  1. The more people talk, the more I listen. The more I listen, the more I learn. .
  2. Wanna buy it? http://www.wayfordmarineservices.co.uk/product/classic-lyone-s/ And, no, I don't know why the photo's are upside down.
  3. I thought you WANTED the blue fender on the front, otherwise I would have screamed about it to you! We passed you on Barton, and very neat and tidy BA looked, I must say. But does she never look anything less than magnificent?!!
  4. I've been shown round both Brilliant and BA (and had a trip on BA), both by invitation. I'd never think of stepping aboard any boat without first obtaining permission. I can't imagine why anyone would think of doing such a thing, it's akin to sitting in someone's car while they load their shopping!
  5. I'm going to watch it tomorrow on catch up.
  6. Just to prove my idiocy: Last week I was erecting a trellis arch round Rene's garden bench. The top cross piece wouldn't slot securely into place, so instead of walking round the bench, I tried to cock my leg over the back of it to see what was wrong. Whereupon the (heavy) top piece threw itself onto my bonce. A lump the size of a duck egg raised itself, and Rene spent the rest of the day intermittently prodding it "to see if it still hurt". Of course it *&%*ing did! And I'm the one with a Lidl's chainsaw.

If you do a lot of cruising when hiring it may be worth checking on fuel prices. Some hire yards charge a lot more than other outlets. If you think your deposit won't cover the fuel you've used, consider topping up at a cheaper outlet than your home yard. Then you'll be refunded anything left in the tank at the yard's rate.
  8. I bought one of their electric chainsaws, and have used it extensively. Taking care, and using appropriate workwear, they're as safe as such a thing can be. Apart from overriding the safety features and actively trying to top yourself, I couldn't imagine how you could hurt yourself. Of course, you could hurt other people, but that's a whole new subject!
  9. Not lipstck, surely, MM? Eye make-up. Well, that's what I use it for . . .err, ooops!
  10. Well done, Robin. It's a surprise two of you managed to get him out. It took three men to get Rene out when she went in a few years back. Until you've tried it you can't believe how difficult it is. Adrenaline can have a dramatic effect on strength. Good job you were on hand.
  11. They won't cross a line of talc, if you don't want to exterminate them. After a few days they get the message, and don't come back - waste of energy. They're only looking for food sources.
  12. There's an extension to the left of the photo, which is a large restaurant/function area. The pub is the focal point of the fund-raising to protect the Hemsby coastline. Well worth a visit, but you'd be well advised to book for the Sunday carvery during the summer season.
  13. I presume this establishment in Hemsby originally had connections to Lacons? It still serves Lacons Ale, and I can thoroughly recommend the Sunday carvery.
  14. From one Ray to another - if you can financially sustain yourselves, take early retirement. I can thoroughly recommend it! Don't work til you drop, none of us knows how long we have, so don't waste it doing things you'd rather not.
  15. We all know you're not a prat - you're an idiot!
  16. No, he's got an incredible set of spanners, he showed us a few years ago! Also read in the paper yesterday he's been diagnosed with Aspbergers - means he doesn't relate well to emotions and social interaction. Perhaps explains why he seems fearless in most things dangerous! Seems to get on OK with everyone he meets, though.
  17. But how will they know which Reg numbers to check on? Up to now, they could easily tell which boats to check by the omission to display a current toll plaque. Now there's no quick way to decide whether to do a check or not. It's progress, certainly, but what happened to "If It ain't broke, don't fix it" (even if it runs!)?

I want one of these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQbHnLSasfQ
  19. Sounds like you have at least one bad battery in each bank. After fully charging, you should disconnect EACH battery individually, wait for 30 minutes, then check the SG of each cell of each battery. The problem will then be obvious. If the situation has been ongoing for some time, you might have to renew all your batteries. Sorry!
  20. Family trees!!!! My cousin Melanie spent much time researching ours, but came to a grinding halt when she realised all our male ancestors seem to have been named with a combination of Alfred Augustus Enoch. Many A.A.E's and E.A.A's with a few A.E.A's thrown in, totally confused her! Added to that we had a female who produced 7 male children (that she could trace) ALL named Edgar. Most were passed on to other family members, probably due to her mental incapacity. So you can guess which side of the family I take after.
  21. Griff, if you fit uPVC cladding to lichens, I've got a load of it on a garden wall you could do. How about moss and fungi?
  22. I've used carpet tiles throughout on Sunbird. In the saloon area, there are a lot of liftable panels, edged with ally angle. Trapping the tiles under this means they don't move. Elsewhere, they all fit between fixed edges - so nowhere for them to move to! Just a word of warning, after several years, dark colours fade alarmingly in the fierce Norfolk sun (feel free to laugh hysterically). So replacing an odd tile for one you've had in storage will be very noticable. But they're so cheap, just replace the whole area. I used seconds from a local carpet retailer. I couldn't see any defects, and neither has anyone else. Been down about ten years, and apart from the colour fade, as good as new.
