    My Day

‘‘Tis the season of playing taxi! We’re planning on running our son back round to West London today. A12 & M25! It was lovely to have my family together on Boxing Day. Haven’t been to Bournemouth for years. Must have been lovely to be on the coast Helen.
  2. Aha .... so I’m not the only one who does that!
  3. Been the best day for weather that we’ve had in a long while.
  4. Sometimes when Iain has been mentioned before, I have searched out my oldest holiday tales and been able to find places where he replied to me. He's still here with us in some way.

    My Day

We were taking my 100 year old mother-in-law to visit my brother-in-law, who lives in Northampton. It feels like I'm chauffeuring the queen when I've got her in the car!
  6. Thanks for the photos. I’m thankful it’s not snow and ice in the run up to Christmas but flooding is presenting its own challenges for some people trying to get around.
  7. A good summary of the year there Ian. My best wishes to you and Marina for Christmas and the New Year. We have booked a few days afloat in March as we enjoyed that so much when we went this year. Our caravan is proving to be a great getaway for us through the warmer months. Other than that I'm not expecting much change in 2020, but one never knows. The highlights of 2019 for me would be summed up in three pictures.
  8. And the same to you and your family JM. Beautiful picture. Will you get out on the Broads at all over the holidays?

My condolences to you and your family Griff. Safe travels for you all over the next days and weeks as you get life sorted out.
  10. Not quite ready for Christmas yet! Been a busy week at work as we went live on a new system which caused chaos for us and our customers. Have a great time Speedtriple and Karen.

Was that the Hilton Metropole Grendel? I've been there for work conferences as well. Quite a good venue and passable for accommodation. Shame the journey wasn't quite as straightforward as it might have been. As for those roadworks on the M1 ... I had to go to Northampton yesterday. Noticed that the signs said completion in March 2022!!

Everything in its own time. The whole situation must be so hard for MrsG. Thoughts with you both.

    My Day

So sad. There's nothing I can add to what everyone else has written. But my thoughts will be with you at such a difficult time.

    My Day

Griff I couldn't bring myself to choose any single on of the buttons to click for your post. Well done on the non-smoking, that's a great achievement. My hubby gave up years ago so I hadn't realised just how expensive it had got, quite apart from the effect on one's health. But sad times being away from Mrs G for so long. Hope you have some time together over Christmas.
  15. Looks wonderful ... and happy anniversary! I'm not sure if I've ever stopped at the Ferry House but if I have it was a few years back. It seems to get nothing but rave reviews now so must try it next summer.
  16. Lovely write up and photos. A real insight into these early days of owning your own boat. You sound very contented and happy with your decision. How wonderful to know it's there whenever you get the chance to head back.
  17. My guess would be Nicholas Everitt Park.
  18. Johnash I have just sent you a message with a few thoughts ... it would have been a very long post if I had put it here!
  19. Hi John! Just a thought, Richardson’s are already taking bookings for 2021 with early booking discounts and prices kept at 2019 levels. They don’t get involved in last minute discounting so you won’t get better prices from them. The ex-Swancraft fleet always get very booked up but are great boats for two people. I would check out Swan Reflection Swan Radiance Swan Renown Swan Romance to name a few. We love Swan Reflection. No matter what else we hire, we keep going back to this one!
  20. I would definitely be struggling to get off with the water that high. We have a little fold up stool we take with us these days ... just in case!
  21. We enjoy being able to stop for coffee whenever we’re out. BridgeStone’s is one of the reasons we enjoy visiting Potter Heigham quite often. Interesting to see the water levels are still high. I’m not sure they’ve gone back down since we were out about six weeks ago now.
  22. Lovely photos and write up David. Enjoying reading about your time afloat. :)
  23. I think that deleting any bookmark you have and setting that up again from a new search is the answer. I had cleared my cache but the problem persisted. This morning I was presented with the sign in page. I closed that tab, Googled the forum, loaded it from there and it came up with me already signed in. So I deleted my old bookmark, bookmarked it afresh from my signed in page and for now, all is fine. We have the same problem with one of the pieces of software that we develop and support where I work. Whenever we have an upgrade we get calls from people who have bookmarked a link on their desktop instead of accessing it via their Programs menu, and this is exactly what we have to get them to do.
  24. This is a good site for looking for out of print books. They have one copy of A Broad Experience at the moment but at a much higher price, the description seems to indicate that it's a signed copy. https://www.abebooks.co.uk/
