  1. Not a bad survey, Do you know it is illegal to pass 1st time ( joke ). Money spent on a boat do's not equate to shoes. Money on a boat is essential. Money on female shoes is VITAL. I am allowed new shoes when my dirty toes stain the carpet. Boating, just imagine that first drink floating down the river, thinking it's all done BUT that could be tweeked. paul
  2. Hi Clive, congratulations but grand kids are better. you can hand them back, over excited, full of treats and know that you can sleep in peace! paul
  3. Hi all I can say is go for a properly installed ring main. This may seem excessive but then, with safe shore power you can have a microwave, kettle etc. We do have a telly on board but mainly use it when in our marina. We have a battery powered DAB radio from Aldi that is always on while moving uses about 4 C type batteries every 6 weeks of use. It's a bit like this we had never had a bow thruster BUT now it is a must. I didn't like power steering in a car until my second TVR had it. Now can you imagine a car without it. Roughing is ok but why have a boat with an engine when you can make it move with oars and slaves. The only cheap way to have a boat is DON'T have one, same could be said of a wife, have someone's else. I really hope Jill doesn't read this!!!! paul
  4. Pocher cars still available on ebay. It's a 1934 Rolls Royce Torpedo Cabriolet Phantom, only 2900+ parts each wheel is 186 parts. That the 6th Pocher I have built, will now have to be VERY nice to Jill to get another for next winter. paul
  5. Hi while this was not the challenge jawsorca has done this was my winter build. that is a 2 foot rule. paul
  6. Alan, very impressed it's the finishing touches that the longest. A word of solace remember painting the Forth Bridge, now it's done for 10 years! paul
  7. Easy way, sod tapatalk it is rubbish and Kaspersky gives a warning about security. I can see this web site easily on android, windows, chrome and even the dark one (apple). I have tried crapatalk but now it is deleted from all. paul
  8. Real answer. We have 1.5 times boat length of floating rope, 12mm diameter on a 28 foot Seamaster. Type whatever feels most comfortable in your hands. I have been told by mountaineers that rope for ANY purpose over 5 years old is not fit for purpose! paul
  9. Will be there, nothing needed BUT!! Somebody ( Jill ) has a shopping list of jobs for me to do. paul
  10. AHHH, Haggis. The inedible eaten by the unspeakable.
  11. Clive for what it is worth I think it is a great GUIDE to the Broads, only the pendants seem to think it is the new riverway rule book. You don't claim it to be the definitive GUIDE to the Broads. You have not claimed devine right to set the rules. You have produced a very good and welcome GUIDE book. Now can I have a copy or not. All those worried about double moorers should go park in that well known supermarket around Stalham that terrifies me even walking through the carpark!! paul
  12. Well I can see sumat wrong the correct way to spell Horse's is hosses. tyke in exile. paul
  13. Alan, That looks really great, but I am not showing Jill anymore photos 'cos I have now got to fit lights in our half wardrobe. When you get to base you will recover all costs by charging for guided tours!!!! paul
  14. Looks great Alan but you will not be able to resist the rush down on Christmas day to hang those shiny PINK MERMAID fenders from momma. Where did you get the flooring from? Is it £££££'s, just worried before I show Jill the photos. I may need a demonstration on how to fit it . paul
  15. well i can remember ? being no 1, hated it I was tooooooooo old to like it. What about the thrill of opening presents THEN the bigger thrill of heat finally coming out of the fire and that first brotherly fight. Now I can remember winding up the grand kids so much I get told off by their mother. ( just before we leave ). Happy Christmas and a Boaty New Year. paul
  16. We have a problem with condensation on our little boat used to be a right faff in the morning to dry the windows off. Then I bought a well known window vac (half price). Wow windows dry in no time. It is so could I was forced to buy one for home. SHE would not risk leaving it in the wrong home! paul ps It's handy for the car windows too.
  17. Alan, It's out of the water so take your paint brush. David has different areas for size boats ie up to 30 foot & above. Of course if you take time you will have do twice as much the w/end after. paul
  18. Hi Alan, Unless you are stuck with idea of the chaotic north, I would recommend Cove, friendly people, quiet location, diesel/pump out plenty of parking etc. Very handy for Wards also when you've been to Wards for that £1 fuse, you can console yourself in the Yare for buying that bit of kit, that you didn't need, didn't know existed but will look great on the boat for £100. David is not usually around on Sundays but someone else will be there to help. paul ps. if you go have a look at Fenland Voyager and see if it needs anti-fouling, please. pps. If you fancy practising anti-fouling I can supply the boat!!!
  19. Hi Alan, No more weight training needed just lift that thing a few times per visit! If you put a couple of coats of Hammerite all over including the base, the mud washes off easier. It's looking good, do you want to practise carpet fitting now, I can supply the boat to try on. Marina, pink mermaid fenders look ideal for getting a nice quiet spot ANYWHERE!!!!!! paul
  20. Hi Jaws, Sorry about the mud weight weight, but as a feeble excuse I have just looked at my measurements for a replacement carpet. 3.1 metres by 4 foot 11 inches at the widest. Comes from being the age when proper sizes were being taught with foreign muck sizes!!!. Keep on with the good work and reports. paul
  21. Hi WRC is fine for kids and dogs, if you want to try booking, book on the angle(side on). Alan (money collector) has £1 cards if the shop tries to sell you £5 cards. Leccy available at Reedham. If at Loddon, Bridge Stores sell cards. Bramerton also has electickery, I think Richard at the chandlery sells cards. Coldham Hall also has limited leccy. Beccles & Oulton have VERY expensive leccy, £3 pounds extra per night! paul
  22. Just an idea further to speedtriple's of making a wooden trellis why not get some plastic garden trellising and cut to shape. This will lift the mattress of the base by 1/2'' and enable some water lilies to grow. paul
  23. Gone. I have back problems and cannot lift it out of the water. We do not wild moor anyway. When stern moored we have extra long bow ropes and tie them to same posts as the stern ropes thus keeping the boat square on. I will be getting a small weight for emergencies we also have a danfloss anchor. paul
  24. I have for sale a 22lb! mud weight with rope for a donation to the site. Available from Brundall. £0 if you can pick it up (pun intended) paul
