  1. I used carpet tiles with a thermal underlay board, nice and cosy and with the board that was left ( a lot) I put it under the mattress. that makes the bed warm on the cooler nights and doesn't seem to make much difference on the rare hot ones. I got the tiles from B&Q for less than half the price of a carpet so after a few years a new set of tiles for free. paul
  2. Do yourselves a favour and scrap crapple, its trying to outdo MS on making things worse with every update. Mind android has just fixed a non fault on my Samsung s5 and I can no longer get emails on it and it is very risky to roll back a version. paul I want my abacus back.
  3. Charlie, we have a Seamaster 820 in Brundall, if you want a look around we will around 8/2-13/2 staying Wroxham, so you can contact me through this site. paul Ps for a very very good offer it maybe for sale!
  4. We changed our boat name from Fenland Voyager to Zimbi IV 'cos it's a sight easier to say and type! Saying that our luck has changed, it hasn't gone wrong as often, now crossing everything after that challenging statement. Mind it was out of the water and we had a bottle of good bubbly that night. paul
  5. The best way to do a restoration is to start with a large pot of money so when you finished you still have a small pot of money. paul
  6. Unless the one at Brammerton have been put back because they were not there last September. paul
  7. I usually look at cheap imports this way, if it is cheaper to buy two go ahead and buy two, one for spares, if not buy the original. paul
  8. I don't see the problem a dump through is easily replaced with a standard system. A jabsco into a standard tank below, a short hose connects the two, the pump out goes to the deck position you have in mind, smell reduced compared to dump through. If you need a particular shaped tank talk to Tektanks usually very helpful. paul
  9. Alan, We moor bow in at Cove to protect the platform and put a spring on to stop the bow riding on the quay side, also David keeps an eye on things (so does everyone else around). paul ps it's also a dammed sight easier to reverse out than in.
  10. Do I now ask the ( rare) passing ranger to take my rubbish? paul
  11. It is always a pity to me, you cannot have grandchildren before children. With grandchildren you can really enjoy getting them over excited then handing them back to the parents. Congrats. paul
  12. Brammerton was at it's best 20+ years ago. Our favourite lunch pub now is Coldham Hall have been known to go there for lunch then back to base in Brundall on a rough night forecast ( nothing to do with the food ). Next is the White Horse Chedgrave or Limmy's chippy is good. If you are willing to gamble the Italian in Beccles is either very good or very bad (?) We always call at the Bridge when we dare to venture over to the dark side. paul
  13. I think it is now time for a super expensive quango is set up to consult with the bats as to why they will not use the supplied bridges. If it requires a chairman 2 days a week I could be induced by lots of money to fill that place. paul
  14. Having looked again at the bottom of the menu, May I suggest a Bloody Mary. paul
  15. Is it me or are the storms worse than normal now they have names? Deepest sympathies with anyone caught in the floods and extreme winds. Our village was flooded, one road is still closed, we live 200+ft above the river level but do have friends on the flood plain side of the river (Tyne). paul
  16. I know what it is, the question mark and exclamation mark are the wrong way round !?. paul
  17. Alan, I got our aerial from Norwich Camping in Blofield, got an extra bracket and leave the bottom bit attached to the pulpit rail just putting the top half mast and pointy bit on when using the tv. Our DAB radio gets more use. But try this http://www.norwichcamping.co.uk/products/grade-vision-plus-image-620-aerial-kit/ paul
  18. to watch tv in Loddon basin you need to moor near to Bridge Store end or watch the snow that Cumbrians wish they had rather than the rain. paul
  19. Now Christmas is out of the way, thankfully, can I send a Happy Year to all and a good boating season to all, may all winds be fair. paul
  20. I think it is 7th feb. paul
  21. Ian not the best news but it is time you and Marina got out of London. Hope to see around Cove next year. seasons best wishes to you both. paul & jill
  22. Andy I agree it can cost more, I was thinking of the most basic possible. But a top class one fitted by you is still going to be cheaper than a funeral. paul
  23. Sorry but any portable gas appliance on any movable structure is a NONO a gust of wind and ?????, candles should be treated as the same. If heating is needed shore power or fixed internal is the only way to go, no jury rigged system as per happened in the Lake District. If you wonder why I am so against these, I have a friend who used a PGA in his caravan and luckily his son cried and threw up at 9:00pm and woke the rest of them, who all were then treated for CO poisoning. Please a £1000 heating system is expensive BUT how much do you value you and your family. I am really sorry to rant on about this, but then it has been said wrapping well is just as good. Please stay safe. paul
  24. Robin a portable gas appliance on a wooden boat??? paul
