  1. While all the dangers described are true. The biggest and worst danger is the refuges from the north side who think that the warnings about tides are fiction. Then proceed to allow a foot of slack on the mooring ropes, just incase it is not a joke! paul
  2. Sorry Ian, you have that wrong. That's the price per strawberry! paul
  3. How to pack for a holiday. Put in what you think you will need. Take half of it out. Then take another half out. Put the beer and wine in. Enough food for a day. Then go on holiday paul
  4. Could be a sticky float, go over Breydon when it's a bit choppy. Always worked on Zimbi, it often stuck after being stood over winter with the tank full. paul

    Marina For Sale

David has sold STC and has signed a non-disclosure so no point in asking him. We were down a few weeks ago and he is happy with who the highest bidder was in getting Cove. There is no point in challenging him because he is not allowed to say anything and will not, because he has that old fashioned thing called, integrity. We wish him and family a happy retirement. paul & jill
  6. Ah but when the heatwave breaks and the biblical floods start! BN has had prior info so don't mock. The escape pod will be launched. paul
  7. I always found it either full of expensive new stuff or even more expensive tat. Example £10 dearer for bulkhead lights than in the shop! Thats when we stopped going. paul
  8. Hi I&M Enjoy. Hope you are going to the Eden Project. You can get a bus direct and it will drop you nearer than the car park. paul
  9. Well that the clothing for the 1st morning sorted! The first visit is always memorable, just don't try and over internet it. Luckily there was no internet for our 1st trip no mobiles either. When it goes wrong someone will be around to help, when it goes right ( mostly does) you will be alone in the world. RELAX about it, a couple of decades or so later, when we were selling Zimbi I did the worst possible last mooring!!!! paul
  10. After many years of hiring then 10 years of owning. The best visit we had was the first. Ignorance was BLISS! The more we learnt the more we needed to learn! Be very careful if you are thinking of a second visit, now it maybe too late and you have been bitten by a very nasty/expensive bug. During that second visit you will discover boat sales yards and go do some aimless fender kicking. Then maybe just a little boat------too late, all you can do then is look forward to being both happy and VERY broke. Relax only joking, I can remember saying that. paul
  11. It is still legal to have a drink and drive. There is a limit as to the amount you can drink so the same should be for boating. I liked a pint at lunch time but usually we were moored up for the day having set off early to enjoy the quieter times. Paul
  12. Good news. Does this mean the six million dollar man is now a member of the forum? Really good to know the loose s(crew) has been tightened. They really get you up and walking quickly in hospital now, so the long rest maybe short! How is Katie coping or are you suffering from her not being there to catch you? paul
  13. Sorry to hear that. I still think it is an odd way to extend your visit to Norfolk! A weeks rest and they will have you hobbling about and you can still do the dusting. paul
  14. Why not just go to the previous owner for unpaid tolls during their ownership? paul
  15. You can make things idiot proof. But a better class of idiot always comes along. paul
  16. As I posted on another thread. A Happy New Year to all. I believe it started today. Stay safe though. I really hope I am not jumping the gun. paul
  17. I had to delete the link then re-connect before Kaspersky was happy. The link you supplied was not allowed by Kapersky. Only posting incase others are having a problem. Happy New Year to all. I think it started today! A brave new world, hopefully awaits us. paul
  18. Be carefull. The only person I know who did that, taunted the pilot up for not trying. He kissed the ground when they landed. He was also an international airline pilot!!!! paul
  19. Thanks for the replies, I have no intention of making them to sell just Jill keeps saying I should, but I don't want any pressure just pleasure. Everyone is different, in fact I tried to duplicate one for a friend and couldn't. I will just keeping making them and giving them to friends and relatives until we run out of friends/relatives. None of the local charities have started bring and buys yet. Thanks again. paul
  20. I have been making various wooden things and would like to know how much you would pay for them. The latest one is this clock. It costs about £8 in materials and took about 5 hours to make. The coasters take about 2 hours to make materials about £1.50 Please be honest but not too unkind. paul
  21. It's now snowing here and the central heating is going up NOT off. From darkest Northumberland (it's in the far north) the wine is open so. Good night to all. paul
  22. Having leccy is not really needed, but once you have it, life becomes a lot easier. On a cold/windy/wet night snuggling in the cabin with the fan heater going, the telly on and the wine open it does not matter what is happening outside. Then when lights out time putting the oil heater on for through the night background warmth is bliss, being of that age of midnight visits. Nothing wrong with not having this luxury but once you have had it,. Would you turn the central heating off at home? Wear your hair shirt if you want, I prefer my cashmere sweater. paul
  23. Can anyone tell me, what size shoehorn I need to service this? paul
  24. Because Marina will talk them into an un-managable growth spurt, that Alan will not be to cope with!!! paul
