  1. Not as wild now as MM is now at stalham.... Weed shouldn't be too bad this early in the season.
  2. We've used them, great for towels and spare clothes as you can leave them onboard for ages with no damp worries, you could probably use a 12v dinghy pump much quicker than the supplied pump. Just stop trying to store the cats in them.
  3. We're booked in to surling ferryhouse next weekend, gotta keep up the habits.
  4. Roll on next friday, I got my mooring booked!
  5. Have to admit I always quite liked him, all the so called gaffes were just what everyone else would say in the pub at the time but wouldn't dare say in public speaking, they may not be considered acceptable now but attitudes change along with everything else over the years. RIP
  6. But you obviously got caught! That's where you went wrong.
  7. They are trying to tell you something Ian.... Ali got her second jab a couple of weeks ago, one of the benefits of volunteering.
  8. I've heard of folk complaining of overheating with the ptfe packing, I nearly went for it myself but plumped for graphite after hearing about issues, also talk of ptfe welding itself to the shaft.
  9. I have a 40 metre lead made up of 1.5mm2 cable and it's fine with the immersion heater on and a fan heater on low plus battery charger, I always fully unroll it though otherwise it will be a heater in it's own right, I also have a couple of shorter leads made from old site leads with the plugs changed. It's not the external size that counts it's the mm2 of the conductors, as long as they can handle 16A it will be fine, the chunky stuff is generally more flexible at colder temperatures (called arctic cable) but no higher rated. If you have a 32A to 16A converter (usually home made) it should have a fuse inside the plug to protect the cable in case of overload. My long lead is a screwfix regular extension lead with plug changed, I use a 13A plug to 16A socket converter at the boat end inside the cockpit when I need the length. Blue is the proper colour for 240V leads but yellow (110V) shows up better in grass to less of a trip hazard, the colour does not change the current rating of the lead at all.
  10. That is when having a dog helps, it takes the choice away from you.
  11. As long as it's not blowing a hoolie there should be no problems at all in october other than timing the tides for daylight.
  12. I didn't realise you were american.....
  13. I'm nearer £8-9 per hour but I'm far better behaved than the rest of the rabble here....
  14. Back in 2000 when I first hired a boat on the broads I looked into day boat hire on my local river when we got home, after looking at a couple of places and prices I was horrified, by the end of the week I had an offer accepted on a Norman 20, oops that wasn't meant to happen, turned out so much cheaper than dayboats on a regular basis. 21 years on and I'm another poor boater....
  15. We never know which way raggies are going anyway, I don't think the crews do either.
  16. I thinks it's a great idea and will probably prove popular during summer, the river is there for everyone to enjoy and anything that helps get the economy moving again has to be good, Thorpe green would also be a good spot but I do wonder how they'd cope with the flow outside of the bridges. It helps that I have no desire to take my boat near wroxham mind you....
  17. With a quality oil there should be no metal to metal contact at all.
  18. And remember to use the spare key now and again, the last car we had we chucked the spare in the back of a drawer and only ever used it once, when we sold it the car would start for 3 seconds then stop and all the lights on the dash would flash up, after some embarrasing head scratching I saw the key looked pristing and said to try the othe, perfect. The immobiliser uses a rolling code so the key needs to update itself within so many codes or it needs reprogramming by a dealer, it was £56 back in 2013 for a skoda and that is still having the key.
  19. It should stay calibrated, it's no different from turning the isolator switch off.
  20. I hope he brings the prices back into the real world, the last time we walked up to the door of the river garden we saw a price list beside the door, had a little chuckle and walked away again to have a nice night in the buck, that would have been a few years ago now as rarely go into thorpe.
  21. That looks like a great place to wander around Grendel, you'd be daft to not keep at it with that on your doorstep, there's plenty of places to keep the regime going when on the broads as well.
  22. You are supposed to let go!
