  1. I thought the helm should be looking that way anyway.
  2. How about "duckwits" ? Or something similar sounding.
  3. There is a simple fix for that, gloves.
  4. If the bilges are linked an auto pump in the lowest spot should be fine for inland rivers but float switches are more reliable than the electronic ones, I've had a couple go wrong. When water is coming in big time the best bilge pump is still a frightened man with a frying pan.
  5. Love the torpedo tube on the roof, that will come in handy. I hope the helmsperson remembers to duck when using it.
  6. That's a gundog for you, our Tina is a nervous wreck this weekend. Our last dog Winston would happily sit and watch fireworks and lightning without a care, it was so much easier.
  7. I'd say 10 volts is not flat it's deceased, sounds way too low to me.
  8. Can't they issue the tree a registration and toll, the wood would soon rot away then.
  9. Nail squarely hit on head methinks, while you're doing the boaty things there's beer/wine needing drinking.
  10. Leaving the taps open allows for some expansion in the system, water is strange in that it is the only thing that expands as it starts to freeze, I think it's to do with the way the atoms align as they crystalise (also why ice floats in water), it won't cause any air locks as it's an open ended pumped system so the air is just pushed out when the pump is powered back up, unlike a closed recirculating loop like a calorifier circuit.
  11. How does all this equate to the flappies? No one ever seems know which way they are going anyway including the crew.
  12. Would "forward" be an easier description?
  13. Can you set it on a timer so it's just done as you return from supporting the local economy by a sociable visit to said establishment? (as we often do with the oven on a sunday) And how good at still being savable 2 hours later when you forget to return at the right time in bid to support the economy a bit more?
  14. Just spotted this on Roger Gaspar's east coast weekly ntm roundup. In theory the wood involved could find it's way up to breydon (although more likely will go out to sea).
  15. I doubt the family members see it that way...
  16. Sod the ferrari, I'll settle for a leccy card, they're worth more now.
  17. I always consider it down to yarmouth from either end as once in yarmouth you cant sink any lower. I regard the new cut as an offshoot of the yare as it generally runs the same way but you are right.
  18. My Mum has done much the same Lulu, she wasn't sure what she wanted so I told her I'd organise any type of service she wanted, next thing I knew she'd paid in full for one of the pure cremations with instructions to have a knees up when convenient for both me and my sister (she lives other side of the country) and spread the ashes over my old mans grave. I think the choice was because I'd said I would be outside for any religious service as I don't do them, I have sat through one thinking what a load of old tosh all through a friends funeral and it's a horrible feeling and no way to pay your respects but if you don't believe you don't believe, I'm not seeing my Mum off like that.
  19. Upriver or downriver is simple, just look at the contours on a map and the sea is lower so must be downriver, Issac Newton wasn't a complete numpty when he sussed gravity (I'm currently quite drunk so feel free to correct me if it was ant & Dec that discovered gravity, I really hope not) and pure water weighs in at 1 ton/m3 without all the crap it carries so is generally gonna follow his rules.
  20. It certainly has gone to the dogs, time to get it ruff-ly back on track with tales about tails and other shaggy dog stories.
  21. Cold and bright is ok but when it's mild it tends to be damp and grey in winter, eberspachers do a wonderful job preferably with a leccy plugin too. When the heating was down in the ferryhouse we did many winter weekends there and took a bag of logs with us each time as the pubs firewood was crap. I'm hoping we'll get to the boat bretween Christmas and new year for a few days but not if damp and grey, the fire at home is just too cosy.
  22. So the hot water fairy strikes again! At least it's playing the game now.
  23. That's the outfalls after a rangers match do that not the nukes.
  24. There was a bit on the radio earlier this week about someone going to germany to have a bank card chip implanted in his finger, so what happen when his card expires?
