  1. Well I joined in 2007 and I think it had been going for few months before that. The folks that ran things then have long since gone (sadly a couple no longer with us) but hopefully it will go on for a while yet!
  2. Certainly hope so too. Apparently there are persons in York city centre well the worse for wear. Possibly from Tier 3 areas? (York is Tier 2) There's always some. But, let's remain hopeful!
  3. despite this, the heating on Swan Radiance was more than up to the job and it was lovely and warm inside. Happy days.
  4. Surlingham Ferry warm and welcoming as always. Some patchy ice even formed on the main river overnight.
  5. I've posted this many times. December 2010 on board Swan Radiance. I would rate it as one of our best Broads holidays ever.
  6. .......the one at Upton Dyke
  7. This is the one at Thurne Dyke. But yes, if you could give a bit more information regarding the boat and maybe the vehicle you would use if towing a trailer in case the approach to the slipway is a bit tight. There's a Parish one at Horning next to the Swan and one at Upton Dyke. I think a few boatyards have one too - Martham and Sutton spring to mind.
  8. Depends a lot on the quality (and quantity) of the batteries and charging systems. I've said it many times on here that Swancraft really paid great attention to this aspect in their design and builds. As Jean says running the engine is very important and their systems certainly worked extremely well. I can never recall having to start the engine to get the heating going. Things like toasters and microwaves are usually run for relatively short periods. Nor sure of the advantage of an electric kettle though - probably as quick to stick the gas on! Barnes Brinkcraft seem keen on the all electric/generator approach but that's another story!
  9. Couldn't agree more. Even worse up here in flat hat land they are shut altogether. I see even Vallance is now admitting there's no hard evidence regarding pubs. Nice to see a drop of Moongazer on at the Maltsters. Such a shame to see it so quiet but at least they are open so good on them for that. Difficult times.
  10. Ah, apologies all, not very good with this attachment stuff - but yes, plenty of room under Beccles - it can be six eight ish at high tide but does drop a good couple of feet. Been under loads of times particularly with Swan Royale which is a shorter version but roughly similar air draught I would think. Lovely stretch of river.
  11. Tried posting a video but not sure if it works. This is an Alpha 35 CC going under Beccles so very similar. 764979113_Production1a.mp4
  12. Good point from Malcolm, you probably get a couple of feet or more range at Thorpe and Beccles but well under 7 feet at high water so timing is important unless you want a prolonged stay!
  13. Looks like an Alpha 42 - can't give an exact answer but I would guess 7 feet. I think Potter would be a no no but no problem with Thorpe and Beccles apart from high tide, both have a good range.
  14. Stick it on the bow with a few gnomes to guard it like Tombstone did
  15. Mrs Nog has just seen this and is nodding in agreement!
  16. Oh dear. Full of shoes, vintage electronics and handbags. I wont say who is responsible for each
  17. I can see the point, I think harking back to when Chris Shepperd and Tracy and John ran the pub it was a different proposition then.
  18. Couldn't agree more Jean. Taking careful note of MW's comment above, the caution arises from the owners past activities.
  19. Hollocks. Has/had a number of 'business' interests along the Yare over the years. ..oh and America and other places too.
  20. Don't forget you're living in Norfolk now Jean!!!!!
  21. You can't blame the pubs or the punters - the stupidity of it beggars belief. Up here in flat cap land we don't even have the luxury of an open pub anyway. But shops, no problem.
