  1. Hello Howard, Here is a link to the webcams that are featured on the forum in our information pages, there are a couple that are not working at this time. http://www.thenorfolkbroads.net/forum/forum/124-webcams/ Regards Alan
  2. Hello William, Enjoy your trip, you will need to plan your trip in order to get under the railway bridge at low water. We found the Norwich Yacht Station too noisy for us when we visited a couple of years ago, the pictures of the tree lined moorings look ideal but during the day the traffic noise is always there and talking to people who have moored there overnight decided it was not for us. Commissioners Cut is ideal to moor and a short walk over the railway bridge and up the lane and there is a bus stop on the left. I have heard a few stories but I have not met anyone that has had trouble here, sadly there are no electric posts here. We have moored here during the day and have visited Norwich via a bus, we have then moored at Bramerton Green or outside of the Waters Edge. I thought all mooring at any of the Yacht Stations was at your own risk? whether manned or not! I agree with others that if you have doubts about any mooring then drop the mud weight or moor elsewhere. Regards Alan
  3. I go on a number of worldwide jukebox forums, giving advice re mechanical and electronic repairs. I also look the other Broads forums and will post occasionally if something takes my interest. Regards Alan
  4. Hello Eric. Wishing you the best of luck. You didn't say how the first op went? Regards Alan
  5. Hello Trafalgar, Welcome to the forum from Tan & myself. Regards Alan
  6. Hello Steve & Deb, I see from your link that both engines only achieve full HP at 3000 rpm. If you are just tootling around the Southern Broads then I would go for the two cylinder model, if you are going to go to the Northern Broads then I would go for the larger three cylinder if only to pass through the Yarmouth bridges. Regards Alan
  7. We have never been up the path to the church and the village, but it is ideal if you need to buy a few bit from Budgens. Regards Alan
  8. Hello Grendel, Yes it does have to be worked in both directions. Combination planes took over from a set of molding planes, like yourself at times I have found that the combination plane has its uses, of course these days I tend to use a router. I still however prefer planing wood by hand. Regards Alan
  9. Thank you JanetAnne I do have one of the Stanley 113 Compass Plane s but because of the handles prefer to use my later Stanley 20 plane. I bought mine used about 35 years ago for £16. Like your owners my plane get used a lot for any job that has a curve in it.. Regards Alan
  10. A friend sent me youtube footage of the GDSF WW1 Steam Convoy 2014. http://videos2view.net/steam.htm Regards Alan

  14. Hi Roy, Earlier this morning the link took you to the bridges report, hence the reason for posting the link in my reply. Regards Alan
  15. Hi Roy, It looks as if you have copied the incorrect link? Should it have been this link:- http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/environment/joy_as_vital_broads_dredging_project_gets_go_ahead_1_4248739 Regards Alan
  16. Hi Charlie, Please take care, it might be an idea to sleep in your life jackets Congratulations on your anniversary. Regards Alan
  17. Hi Polly, I have only just watched it, we knew the outcome re championship but not the events. As you say awesome Regards Alan
  18. Hi Peter to be honest the best thing they could have done with Vauxhall Bridge would have been to cut it up as scrap and if they needed a foot bridge then it would have been less than the cost that they have paid out for this lemon! Regards Alan
  19. Hello Carol, Could the building in the center of the picture (the roof-line with two chimneys) be the station which is now Brian Ward's? Regards Alan
  20. I total agree Peter, these boards have be correct. Eric, re low and slack water, lets put it this way a limited number of very high draft craft can traverse the Yarmouth bridges say once or twice a year if well planned and at low water not slack water. The reason for going through the bridges at slack water is that the the fast flow of the outgoing tide should have slowed down to make a controlled passage down river, coming up river it is not so much of a problem other than using more revs and diesel. Regards Alan
  21. Thanks Ray, Looking at this report, I noted the following:- "The most common place this year for smashes has been at Vauxhall bridge in Great Yarmouth, where five out of the reported seven incidents took place. The other two were at Thorpe railway bridge and Beccles bridge. Five of the incidents involved hire boats. In a bid to combat the problem, the Broads Authority has adjusted the gauge board at Vauxhall bridge by three inches to give the impression there is less headroom than there is." What we need is the correct height at all bridges with bridge height boards that are clearly marked at the lower levels and well in advance of the bridges, so crews can make informed decisions before getting to the bridges. The height boards going down river through Great Yarmouth are almost unreadable. With higher air-draft boats calculating the tides and the height at low & slack water is imperative and misinformation on the approach to a bridge does not help anyone. Regards Alan
  22. Just a reminder to watch or record this program tonight on Chanel 4 at 8.00pm or 4 plus 1 at 9.00pm. Regards Alan
  23. Hi Jean, Thank you for sharing the pictures, being by the water is what counts. Regards Alan
  24. Sorry John we are down the 5th July to 12th July, one of these days our weeks will fall lucky. I will post the dates onto the boats forum to see if the dates suit any of our other owners. Regards Alan
  25. The staff at Broom's filling station are doing other work in their production area's of the Broom's complex and just walk down to the filling station when the bell for service is pressed. Shorter hours are understandable but not opening on Saturday afternoon and at no time on Sunday could cost them major fuel sales. It will not effect most syndicate boats because of the Saturday or in our case Tuesday turn around days, if may effect some of our owners who need to cut their allocation short. The main effect will be to weekend sailors. Regards Alan
