  1. Thanks for that, well worth knowing. The ceramic polish did give a very smooth finish over neglected gelcoat. Obviously I need to now wax it. Back to marine products then.
  2. This is the ceramic polish, a little goes a long way.
  3. Well it appears that the Mods and admin can't win, we are either over moderating or under moderating or favour "untouchable" members. Let me make it clear, no one is "untouchable", even moderators and admin are subjected to the same standards. Members come and go, always have and always will. Everyones imput is valued and as long as it is done within the published ToS and in a friendly spirit no one will be moderated. The aim of any post must surely be to share opinion and wisdom not to see how far the boundaries can be pushed. I see how much mods time is taken up dealing with issues that could be avoided if a few moments were taken to rethink a post or response. If anyone has a problem, I am easy to message. Happy sunny Sunday
  4. I have used a good ceramic polish, from Halfords. Don't get the spray as it is difficult to use. I use two coats and it is lasting well on the shetland. Use sparingly and it is an easyish job.
  5. I had commercial and residential property, I got out of residensial 5 years ago as I couldn't see much of a future in it. I am in the process of reducing, and eventually getting out completely of residential. Rather than relet to new tenants, as they become empty they will be sold. Landlords are seen as greedy capitalists who exploit renters. They need to speak to my tenants, one who is 87 and is paying £300pm less than market value as I know she can't afford it and has lived there for 15 years. All my rents are below market level but I am still classed as greedy. The legislation, threats of huge tax penalties from potential future governments and social pressure will drive others out and then we will see problems arise for local authorities. Sadly, these days people are envious of others ability to put the effort in, take risks and to do well, they want to rip it to pieces without any thought of what will replace it.
  6. Normal service will be resumed tomorrow, thunderstorm warnings have been issued for parts of the country.
  7. The view from my onboard camera, it must be hot, it has blown the camera. Or Nolfolk has turned pink 😎
  8. Have you thought about putting some ice packs in a container to cool them down ? I have moved mine into a cupboard in the middle of the house that I originally made into a wine store, ( when I could drink red wine ), it had a cold water feed in it that I extended up and down across the rear wall, it kept the wine at a constant temperature all year. Sadly it only stores tonic and beers these days.
  9. 38 degrees here on the edges of the Medway Towns, hotter tomorrow. It has been a struggle to keep the top floor of the house cool as we have 2 large french doors upstairs facing down the garden into the morning sun. The house is an unusual design for the UK as it has a 1m overhang at first floor level all around, this provides shade to the ground floor and is very effective in shading to ground floor rear glass. I keep threatening to fit aircon upstairs but Matron vetos it, now might be the time to suggest it again 😎
  10. disappointed to miss the good weather this week but I won't miss being onboard Monday and Tuesday. Up on Friday for the rest of the summer 😎 If you have a reasonable freezer compartment, partially fill a hot water bottle and put it in, I have gained a lot of brownie points this week.
  11. There are a lot more boats of all shapes and sizes appearing for sale on various platforms.
  12. Thanks for all the imput, much appreciated and it helped me work out what I needed. I have gone for a ASUS VivoBook 17 X712 17.3in i3 8GB 1TB Laptop as it is a better replacement for the PC but means I can use it onboard as well. I will make more yse of the 10" tablet and less of the phone.
  13. I have had a look at them as they do the bigger screen, does anyone use one ?
  14. The more I look, the more confused I become. What I am after is a 15" plus device that I can run android apps on as well as stream sky F1 to. A keyboard would be handy. I don't game or do heavy editing work. Ideally I want to retire my PC as I only use it occasionally. I do most things I need on my mobile or 10" tablet. What I am after is something between a smartphone and a PC but more versatile than a tablet, the bigger the better. Does such a beast exist, Is a chrome book suitable. Thanks.
  15. When your grown up children stop coming you have a peaceful lull, then grandchildren start to come and the peace and quiet disappears We have two up for a week aged 13 and 8, two days to rebuild and then the other two aged 11 and 15 arrive for a week. We will make the most of it as too soon the cycle will turn and they won't want to come to stay. They are good fun to have but it is always nice to hand them back. Unfortunately we have to fly a large pink pirate flag when they are onboard.
  16. As I was born in 1959 I am excused being precise
  17. I don't know, you give someone 2.54 cm and they take 1.609344 Km It just doesn't scan the same.
  18. I do the night shift, 3am is an early night for me
  19. # grounded, that must make you a very dedicated boaty. Flying from the other side of the world I would guess 3 weeks is the minimum to justify the travel costs, well done you. I moan about the cost of a 300 mile round trip. My hat has been taken off to you.
  20. One for all you ex matelots. HMS Cavalier in Chatham historic dockyard.
  21. In a couple of weeks time I am up for 6 weeks, I thought about Hungary for F1 but the flights are all over the place.
  22. Sundays race was a good example of what F1 should be, an engaging race.
  23. Next step MM is to learn to play the saw, much safer than DIY
  24. I have used this one with good results. I follow it up with a couple of coats of a good ceramic car polish, that usually lasts for 12 months and is worth the extra cost.
  25. Pleased to report I now have use of the Shetland, all works completed and tested.
