Wise words Robin. I use the Bins there too. If I see the ramp go up I hold back, and try to time it. More difficult if you have the wind and tide behind you. This year I was holding back and he waved me through.

Over such a narrow gap with often little warning of when he is going to go across it can seem very fast. I always look out for the ramp.

Cat, Pigeons, bag. Lovely discussion Robin and one that was guaranteed to polarise members. Now how do we get the cat out from amongst the pigeons and back into the bag. I love the idea of cheap fuel and food. But as has been said before if you plan well you can get the cheap food, either take it on board with you or plan your trip so that you are within walking distance of one of the big four or smaller but even cheaper two. I come down on the side of better as it is. Peaceful, tranquil and not too commercial. As for fuel if you shop around you can get a good price. No not for me. Getting old.....leave it as it is.

When we hired this boat we liked the instant heating and hot water, no need to run the engine. The boat handles well forwards and astern. Reversed all the way down the staith at Nettishead. You will love it.

We used to watch the planes at Manston. I used to love watching the lightnings taking off. They would get airborne and go almost straight up. The noise was great.

I have hired many different boats and as Eric mentions it is the broads that makes them all special. There is however one boat that I just fell in love with.....many of you can probably guess which one from my previous posts. We hired Swallow from Maffett Cruisers at Loddon (Chedgrave) when we needed something not so expensive. We did this following some posts from Neil (Speedtriple). I have hired her for next year as well. Lovely boat for two. Comfortable but basic, handles like a dream. She does have a small flat screen tv and DVD player so not basic basic.

For the first time this week I managed to get the "no more new content" message. Needed a Saturday morning to manage it.
