In the old days before we had great great goals and hard hard fights the only Trump we had to worry about was Nellie the Elephant!

And we could wallow in cosy nostalgia watching that old cocney boy Dick van Dych trying to pull that English rose Poppins.

Me thinks fondly of the Old Shakespear days when the good old folk of Yarmouth would gather round the log fire in the local disgussing the days issues in that witty, flowery, tudor style little knowing that in future times little wiilie & willeta would be forced to put their nosies into those preserved volumes whilst scratching their little heads wondering What the ....... is this all about.

Almost right, Loo, only I reckon those good old folk of Yarmouth would have been hanging around ye olde DHS before another chav gear foraging trip to Sports Direct.

Talking about strange words and a link to Smellyloos comments

"Trumpery"

Defined By the Oxford English Dictionary as:

"Deceit, Fraud, Imposture, Trickery"

first recorded 1456

Even then the Media (quill pen and vellum) were plotting against him...

A woman stopped to pet my dogs this evening.
"Are they Beadles?"
"No, they are Beagles."
"That's what I said Beadles."
"No a beadle helps out with religious duties whereas these buggers go woof!"

And to 'beadles' the annoying 'Donimo' and the 'chimbley'.

There's another word that I have been mispronouncing for my years - apparently.

All these years it should have been VIDJOW :shocked

Our linguist secretary Gracie, shall attempt the translation in due course ! :shocked

What really infuriates me is people who drop their voice at the end of a statement particularly newscasters quite often the salient point is contained in the last few words which become inaudible.

The whole point is lost. There is a chap on Look East who does this all the time, I get very fed up with not hearing news items because of his habit of doing this. On ITV News there is a reporter who is just as irritating by doing the opposite ending every sentence with gratuitous stress.

Regards

Carole

Overheard today in the library in Great Yarmouth .
A young man was one of those using a computer when it 'crashed'.
Upon complaining to a staff member he was heard to say,

" any normal person would just punch the machine, innit".

I'm absolutely gobsmacked! Not at the young man's behaviour, but the revelation that they have a library in Yarmouth! :shocked
