Honeymoon On Olympic Light

Hello all,

we are just back from our weeks honeymoon aboard Olympic Light

fantastic weather apart from Wednesday, but we can cope with one day

arrived at Herbert Woods Friday lunchtime 

we did various other stops mid day during the week

Friday evening mooring at Stracey Arms

Saturday evening The Wherry hotel Oulton Broad

Sunday evening Loddon 

Monday evening South Walsham Broad (mud weight)

Tuesday evening Horning

Wednesday evening Neatishead 

Thursday evening South Walsham Broad again (mud weight)

we like to cover a few miles.

its been 18 months since our last boating holiday and I noticed the sad demise of waving at fellow boaters, I was left hanging (if that's the right term) on several occasions 

mostly from private owner boaters

is there now a them and us attitude to hirers ?

I do hope I'm wrong

Interested to know how you liked Olympic Light. It's a boat I've looked at many times on the HW website.

We've hired Olympic light twice now, and for us at mo, it's the only boat of choice

im 6ft 2 and headroom is fine, apart from the forward cabin, but as we use the rear cabin it's not an issue

We always wave , always brings a smile to our faces especially when returned by excited young children possibly enjoying their first Broads adventure

Congratulations and I'm glad you had a good time. Waving is alive and well in my recent experience so perhaps you were a bit unlucky.

Congratulations to the both of you.

No not a them and us as to waving, for some reason about 50% mixed hire boats and privately owned boats dont wave just lately. I have sadly noticed that the non waving brigade seems to be the majority of flappy thing boats mind, but not all before I'm jumped on.... lol

Plenty of waves noted during my recent excursions although I must admit I am more of a nodder than a waver due to my past life as a motorbicyclist.....

We wave. I haven't noticed a big drop off in response, just one snooty privateer saily. I agree with Simon, little excited children are the most rewarding wavers.
