Chelsea14Ian
I was lucky thanks to patches I gave up smoking in 2005.I used to smoke 40 plus a day,I stated to feel unwell and the cost became a bit much.If people want to smoke thats up to them.I think one of the best things to happen is the ban on smoking in public places. If you want to smoke or vape do so outside. Not around me, even when i smoked I was not a fan of smoking in pubs restaurants etc.I also am aware some people smoke and live until 100,others may only ever smoke 10 and die the next day.I now thanks to many years smoking have COPD.Believe me its not very nice and I would not wish that on anyone, okay I have no one to blame but myself. My point is as I have already said if you want to smoke fair enough, but not around me.
donnygeoff
Nicotine is a very addictive drug................... It wasn't always fround (spelling) upon to be a smoker, we got addicted, I don't smoke anymore, from 40-60 a day, I vape. Breaking the habit is HARD, VERY HARD, but a lot of people have done it, a lot of people are still trying, but I know what I don't want to hear, and it is people who have been lucky enough not to get addicted telling those that are/have been how to live. Like I said before, fumes from cars, even boats (topics on here about fumes from another boat entering your boat) are as bad or even worse. ...... shush now..... before you go too far DG

Good job I did not, he would have got kicked for nothing he had done. Seriously I climbed the wall. But I also took some very strong beer that I drank when it was bad. I knew then that I could not drive out to buy fags.
Timbo
Just back from walking the dogs through the woods. Smoking my pipe, as is my want. Six thousand acres of woodland. When up pops a bloke and asks to walk with me. It's a free country. Why not. We walk for two minutes. Then " Do you mind not smoking there are vast queues of people in hospitals with smoking-related diseases!" says the bloke. "What's the queue like for removing a size twelve from your jacksie?" Six thousand acres!
donnygeoff
I tried the cold turkey route....... I would never wish my 2 day mood on anyone again..... so I went to vape, if I do not have my vape thing with me, I don't worry as much as if I had run out of fags.... But I still stand by my thoughts that if someone smokes/vapes they are not the scum of the earth (maybe I am) and if pubs allow it then that is the choice of the pub, and it is up to anyone who wants/ or doesn't want to go in to do so. Now I know the reply from some, I don't vape and don't like it so I won't go in, but that will be evened out by those who do and those who aren't bothered one way or the other. sailor
My concern would be the exposure of Propylene Glycol to unsuspecting people in the pub. At low levels, I understand it's supposed to be safe, but as PG is also in blood pressure medication, some beers, shampoo, hair dye etc - there is a risk that it can reach toxic levels, causing acidosis and other complications (stomach pain, muscle cramps, stroke etc). We had a few friends become very ill recently, and our research of their condition has led me down this path. I thought that it might be worth sharing. 2
Timbo
Hold your horse's fellow smokers...have I found us a paradise in spitting distance of the Broads? Oh yes, I have! I bet you thought the days of being able to sit in comfort, in public, indoors and smoke your pipe or puff on a cigar while enjoying a coffee were long gone? Oh no, they are not! In Rollesby, is the Turmeaus Tobacconist. Complete with walk-in humidor, the largest selection of pipe tobacco in England, a rather remarkable selection of Cuban and New World Cigars and...and...and... "a purpose-built sampling lounge complete with comfortable sofas, television and books where you can sit back, light up your cigar or pipe and enjoy a moment of bliss that is rarely found in today's world. " with a complimentary coffee!

JennyMorgan
I was about sixteen, at art school, a pipe was part of the image I suppose so I went out and bought one. Dad was surprisingly supportive, 50 Senior Service a day man, and he bought me an ounce of tobacco. I duly had a good puff, in fact several, was as sick as a dog, a dying dog even. I lay on the floor of the bog, retching my gut up, never again! Dad had wisely & craftily bought me roll-up tobacco, I was never to smoke again. Snogging a bird what smoked, urghh, further cause for not smoking!
grendel
Ib had a similar experience, except I was at infants school, one puff of an illicit cigarette was enough to leave me coughing and spluttering, I vowed that day - never again, and I never have.
