Good news, but with this extra mooring and the one at Polkeys Mill, it does make me wonder why the BA has insisted on negotiating a new lease for Reedham Quay. They could have saved an awful lot of hassle (and money), for themselves, the parish council and the local businesses, if they had just given up the lease (as they did at Salhouse Broad).

Does anybody know exactly WHERE these moorings are, as if they`re adjacent to the mouth of the Chet, (the actual site called Hardley Cross) it could make mooring very interesting in strong tides/winds, especially if there`s Chet traffic exiting into the main channel finding all manner of boats midstream jostling for moorings?.

It would certainly be a peaceful mooring in calm conditions with no pub around?.

Went past them today - they are adjacent to the mouth of the Chet.  There is a 'no mooring' bit first, then the BA moorings.  Boats exiting the Chet will still be able to see past the moored boats.  Nice looking moorings - quite low with lots of decent mooring posts.  Let's hope the disposable BBQs will be kept off the quay heading and they stay nice.

When we wanted to have a BBQ at Beccles town quay, the quay ranger said put it on the grass, the science being, scorched grass will soon grow back, whereas a scorched bit of quay heading is VERY expensive to replace.  With our home yard being Loddon (actually, it`s Chedgrave) i doubt we`d moor there.

Does anybody know the length of quay heading, and how many boats will be able to moor?.

It is on the Loddon side , there has been a mooring there for a long time.  It is near the memorial.  We have often toyed with the idea of mooring there but sometimes , not always there can be quite a swell on the river just there where the two rivers Chet and Yare merge.       Nothwithstanding the possible swell we would still moor there.   Good in the fishing season and good for a walk and good for peace and quiet.   Well done BA.

I managed to take some shots of the new 24 hr moorings at the corner of the Chet and Yare.by the Memorial.    The first section is not for mooring at and the signs indicate for people to moor between the arrows show and where there are substantial mooring posts ,they look like steel but have not been close enough to tell.  All in all well done BA.
