Lost dog - Ranworth

Hi,

A small, very elderly dog was lost last night off the boat Executive 2 moored at Ranworth Staithe. She was on the staithe when last seen.

We spoke with the gentleman early this afternoon when he was searching the area close by.  He seemed to think this alert had been posted on the Forum hence our lack of details (at home now). There is a contact number posted outside the shop on the staithe.

Let's hope she is found quickly as it will be a very cold night.

I was at Malthouse Broad overnight Tuesday, met the couple concerned.  Had a chat with them,  from the info given we can safely assume the dog went in the water./

the dog was 15 and infirm with a few age related issues.

So I gently 'Told them like it is'  which the lady later thanked me for.

I feel heart felt sorry for them.  But they have two other dogs, are not new to the Broads so hopefully they will move on.

I did what I could

its sad ole doo indeed

we love our pets like no one else and a loss is like an old friend or if not family loss

all i can say is ..........................

he or she gave all they can and you equal the amount

it sounds a bit clinical but but ...............

a pet is for there life and enjoy it, always a wag, a meow, chirp or gulp, it says it all

god bless the animals we love them all

wild or pets.........................long or tall

a sad ole day indeed  my heart goes out to yuo  one and all ..............

jon a dog lover and bird lover, not the feather s, don,t tell the wife ......!!!!!

When I lost my two dogs two years ago I took comfort in the following

THERE is sorrow enough in the natural way

From men and women to fill our day;

And when we are certain of sorrow in store,

Why do we always arrange for more?

Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware

Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Buy a pup and your money will buy

Love unflinching that cannot lie

Perfect passion and worship fed

By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.

Nevertheless it is hardly fair

To risk your heart for a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years which Nature permits

Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,

And the vet's unspoken prescription runs

To lethal chambers or loaded guns,

Then you will find - it's your own affair, -

But ... you've given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will,

With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!),

When the spirit that answered your every mood

Is gone - wherever it goes - for good,

You will discover how much you care,

And will give your heart to a dog to tear!

We've sorrow enough in the natural way,

When it comes to burying Christian clay.

Our loves are not given, but only lent,

At compound interest of cent per cent,

Though it is not always the case, I believe,

That the longer we've kept 'em, the more do we grieve;

For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,

A short-time loan is as bad as a long -

So why in - Heaven (before we are there)

Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

That's a wonderful poem, Wussername.

We lost our Jim last May, shortly after he was 14 years old........... he was well known around the Norfolk pubs for drinking the first few inches of my pint. His favourite tipple was Adnams Southwold! cheers

Yes, Karen and i had the honour of Jims company on numerous occaisions, and i had the pleasure of taking him for walkies on a couple of occaisions. He was a lovely fellow, and is sadly missed at the forum meets.

We had a West Highland White Terrier from 69 to 81, long before Elaine Page made them fashionable, We called him "Snudge" and when we had to have poor old Snudge put to sleep, it was probably the most heart breaking thing to happen. We had family members die, but nothing ever hurt the way it did when we lost Snudge.

My pets have always been my babies  :love and always come first. To loose any of them is to have lost one of the family. Since we lost our dog, the house seems empty, but I am putting my foot down hard to not getting another dog. It is hard, but we are sponsoring a dog with Dogs Trust :dog: . Once we retire them we both can look into getting another dog  :love .

Now where have I heard that expression before.      Just recently my sister and brother in law lost their Jack Russell and at 73 and 85 respectively  that was it, they were not going to have any more dogs, couldnt go through the upset of it all anymore,  2 months late and 'Hobbs' another rescue Terrier is lying in front of the fire.   They just found their home too empty.
