  1. I have just sold my daughters old car and had three emails asking for permission to pay using PayPal, offering a few hundred pounds over the asking price to be able to pay the agent who was coming to collect for them. I politely told them to multiply !!! Doug.
  2. I'll second that, nothing seems too much trouble. ( do I get a discount on my mooring now Clive). Doug.
  3. Tim, you are a bad person!!! ps, Pete will get back to me ref the website. Doug.
  4. PL had a furling self tacking Jib, when I bought her the jib boom was fixed between the deck and the bottom of the furler but did not work particularly well. I modified it for the following year by shortening the boom and fixing it to the deck around a foot from the front. This worked well and gives a fuller sail when on a reach as the pole effectively shortens. The line to set the jib was led from the. Tack to the end of the boom before going back to the stem and then back to the cockpit this allows the sail to be set, the furling line works as normal once the set line is released. A jib sheet was then fastened to the shroud on the starboard side before passing through a block on the boom and then through another block on the port shroud and back to the cockpit. Hope this makes sense . Doug.
  5. I use the AA, don't accept the first price they knocked £40 off my renewal , as already said cover is personal so will cover car and bike. Doug.
  6. Let's hope she is found safe and well. Doug.
  7. Better enforcement of the craft without a current licence would raise more than that. Doug.
  8. My other half has her water with Thames Water. A couple of months ago they wrote to her to say she was £700 in debit and her monthly direct debit was going to change from £24 to £76 . As you can guess she was not happy, others in the same area had the same problem and set up a face book page to get an idea of how many were affected. It turned out around 500 people had the same problem but amounts varied greatly. It turned out that the 3rd party meter reading company couldn't be bothered to get out of his car and made up meter readings that were vastly under what they should be and this only came to light when they changed companies. After much decussion Thames Water finally agreed to write off any balance outstanding and start from fresh. This would not have happened if everyone had not got together and involved the local paper etc. She now monitors the meter on a regular basis. Doug.
  9. Being on a boat I would of thought you need tto pack it £20 notes. Is it water fed from the engine, if so the other pipe might be an overflow /vent pipe ?? Doug.
  10. Well they have taken Raisena out to sea recently, so who knows. Doug.
  11. Did anyone watch this programme last night, the Guy was restoring a 1940s motor cruiser with no budget and limited skills. He used a crowd funding type website to enlist help. Worth watching. Doug.
  12. I know what you mean Robin, my dad came to live with me for 6 months while he had some work done on his bungalow and seemed to get stuck to the sofa as soon as I came home. Doug.
  13. That's the one, I think the lads name was Callam. Doug.
  14. Ladybird or Raisina Clive?? Doug.
  15. Iain, when you get to Reedam the clock effectively stops while you pass through the swing bridge and then starts again once you reach the other side. It's also a good place to sit and watch all the mayhem. We were stuck on the Yarmouth side last year with about 20 other boats as the tide had yet to turn and the wind was not quite enough to get round the corner to the time out zone. Doug.
  16. Did this Geoff but it's the background colour against the font that makes it hard to read, I have to get me glasses out now !!! Doug.
  17. I would steer clear of the Yare next Saturday between Coldham hall and Breydon as I think the Yare Navigation Race is on . Doug.
  18. My iPad updated ok but the grey scale makes it very difficult to use, I think I will give it a miss on my iPhone.. doug.
  19. It's this sort of behaviour I really enjoy about this forum. Well done all. doug.
  20. As it was not my boat and I only found out on the Thursday before when I was in London it was not fault it did not have Nav Lights !!!!! doug.
