  1. Hi Dave, On the same site the Singer Junior is also a contender for the car. Regards Alan
  2. I heard on the radio sometime this week that there is going to be a shortage of diesel at the pumps. also whilst a group of us were chatting last night it was mentioned that a number of cities are going to limiting diesel engined cars from entering their cities. Has anyone else heard of this? Regards Alan
  3. Hi Poppy, Maybe you would be better off with two tin cans and some wet string Regards Alan
  4. Hello Geoff & Wendy, Being are you are in and around North Wales how about popping into Portmeririon. We rather liked it there. Regards Alan
  5. Hi Iain, Your take home pay was similar to mine maybe a little less. I was on 1 shilling and 1&1/2 pennies per hour. My first week included about 3 hours overtime one night and a Saturday morning and my take home pay was a little over £5.00 10 bob (10 shillings) was a very good nights out it paid for four pints and a chips & fishcake. In those days it was expected to hand over your take home pay to your mother in my case it would have been my Nan. Regards Alan
  6. Hi Jane, Sounds like a good idea. Could the B.A. install electric posts at this location? it would help with making the 24 hour mooring there more desirable and help the Berney Arms
  7. Hello John, I hope you mean being a NBN member. Iain beat me to it. My advice to any of the businesses on the Broads is to belong to all of the Broads boating forums so they can inform both visitors to the Broads and local owners to events they are holding. All of the forums offer advertising at a competitive price. Regards Alan
  8. Hi Dave, A brave man or what, I can see that Grace might have a reply or two for you. Little feet means more space for shoes in all of those wardrobes and closets Regards Alan
  9. Hi Griff, It always seems to be the skipper that gets those good jobs such as faulty toilets, or up to the arms in the bilges. Regards Alan
  10. Ian, You are a lucky man, mine gets in a right paddy when you choose to ignore her. Regards Alan
  11. Last season I needed to give initiation training. I left Sheffield early on Tuesday morning to arrive at Brundall by 9.30 am, it rained all the way there, all of the 5 hours of training and all the way back to Sheffield. I arrived home about 9.30 pm somewhat fed up with the A47 & the A17 and the foul weather. Regards Alan
  12. We called into the Ferry House by car on our way home last week. We have never moored there because of the moorings, some of our other owners have but I wont until something is done with the moorings which are awful. We wanted to go to the pub because we have always told people that the food has been reported by many for its quality. I can confirm that it is and the staff are friendly. The pub is quite old and to be honest needs some serious money spending on it, but for a pub on the Broads this is not always an option. Regards Alan
  13. Hello Alan, I have given Graham (poppy) a temporary password and sent him a message to inform him of the action taken. Regards Alan
  14. Hi Sue, We have done that, but she who must be obeyed (no not Tan) the voice on the sat nav, gets very upset when we wont turn left or right off of the river. It does however give you the correct MPH. Regards Alan
  15. There is usually a good display at Beccles, we watched it a couple of years ago, sorry it is not the Northern Broads. Regards Alan
  16. I bet the members on this forum have collectively got enough brewing gear to almost stock an average brewing suppliers shop. I dabbled many years ago, buying the kits and doing my own but everything tended to taste like sherry and I hate sherry. The home brewed beer beer & larger were ok but it was like rocket fuel, it left you with an headache after a couple of glasses. Regards Alan
  17. Hello Matt, Welcome to the NBN; your friendly forum from Tan & myself. Regards Alan
  18. If you phone the B.A. they will send you replacement cards for any that do not work, a few years ago we had amassed about 20 cards that would not work on a number of their electric posts. The B.A. were good enough to send me replacements by post. Regards Alan
  19. The River entrance is just past the thatched building after Ferry Marina and the dyke to Boulter's. The new marina is just over the wall to Boulter's yard. Regards Alan
  20. Hi Geoff & Wendy, Looking forward to your holiday pictures. Belated congratulations by the way. Regards Alan
  21. The only time we use the horn for the bridges is the three long blasts of the horn for Reedham and Somerleyton bridges if we have not been able to contact the operatives by phone. Canals however are another issue where bridges always seem to be on a blind corner and you can almost guarantee that a boat will be coming the other way, so in that case we always use the horn and hope that a boat approaching a bridge may hear it. Regards Alan

  23. A rescue service be it independent or the RNLI depend heavily on public donations without out that pound here or there placed into a collection tin or an internet donation they can not provide the excellent services that they offer. Ash if you can let us have details where forum members can donate it would be appreciated. Regards Alan

  25. Hi Ian, Not sure of Black Jacks & Fruit Salad in 1971 but in the early 60's they were four for 1D. Regards Alan
