  1. Same thing happened to us ages ago, I had already taken precautionary measures to my garage - Stopped them getting in but ruined the door, as a result of that I upgraded the pedestrian door physical security. Then a couple of years ago fitted a 4 x system cctv round our hovel. Never had a murmur out of the dogs since. I fitted the cameras in plain view but out of reach. Can't put a price on the peace of mind it gives us. I can view the cameras from my phone anywhere around the globe with a 4g signal Griff
  2. I saw on the lunchtime news today that Lincolnshire has updated all it's revenue raisers to digital in an effort not to miss being able to issue as many stealth tax demands as humanly possible. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask Griff
  3. Sprinter - not heard owt bad about em but then again not looked. My Vito had suffered issues before I bought it, dealership kept them quiet. I found out later. That thing cost me 2 cylinder heads, 2 sets of injectors, oh and the gearbox once partially fell off - fractured chassis mounting caused by heavy handed dealership mechanics when they changed the head first time Griff
  4. Vauxhal Vivaro 1:9CDTi - The best van I have ever had. The van prior to that was a Mercedes Vito - Biggest pile of horse manure ever. Damn thing cost me more to keep on the road than it earnt me - I'm exaggerating slightly of course but due to that experience I now would never ever have Merc van ever again ever and I bought the bl00dy thing from a main dealer too - Should have known better, I kinda knew I was getting a pup but tooooo late by the time my fears were confirmed. Yertiz Vivaro - now of course it has 'My' cherished plate on it - R641 CHG - Perfect Griff
  5. Saturday - I'm working away in my own time for free yet again on my Lads Restoration house that is now up for sale in Finningley village. Comes to start the 'GriffTile' van to drive home, And . . . . the starter motor finally gave up. It has been getting more troublesome over the last few weeks, I knew it was on it''s way out so I got the van booked in for next week with my local trusted mechanic since about 3 x weeks ago for a full service, a few other items and most importantly a new starter motor. I was hoping it would last. It didn't Rang Bro' who lives in same village, quick tow off to bump start and I'm away home. Yesterday forenoon at home it fired up - Just. back round to my lads place finished off a few more items and yes, you've guessed it - Nil starting again. another tow bump start and I'm home. Today I had to go to work with minimal tools in MrsG's car - fortunately I'm fully stripping out a bathroom so didn't need many tools. This morning at 0700 sharp the 'GriffTile' van was dropped off at mateys garage prearranged for a new starter motor only. It took them FOUR hours to change the damn thing. Had to grind off bolt heads, drill out bolts etc. plus whole front bumper / valance has to come off in the first place. Well to be honest my van doesn't do long distances apart from round trips to Stalham, it's got 176'000 miles on it now and that starter motor is 15 years old, will have been used tens of thousands of times and never been taken off so it doesn't owe me owt. The invoice inc vat was £306:00 supply / fit so not too bad. Saved me the hassle of doing it and allowed me to continue working and not let down a client. Griff
  6. Well done - Chuffed for you Griff
  7. I don't know if it's OK for me to post this, but no doubt it can be removed if inappropriate I very much doubt it is inappropriate, one of our 'Peskies' will be in touch, if not assume it's ok That's a right bu66er isn't it? 12th June being a Wednesday, if I finish work early, say around 1700, get on the mighty Tiger, depart at say 1800, that gives me 30 mins to cover 160-odd miles - not a prayer, not even on the Tiger. Is there maybe a chance that after the 12th the film can be uploaded to youtube for the rest of us further afield anoraks to see it? Griff
  8. Graham, I am so chuffed you are onboard (Pun intended) the NBN especially with regards to updating and educating us re NWDC, especially dispelling some of the many myths / rumours - I too had mistakenly thought the maximum lock width was 12ft but hoped it wasn't and now overjoyed to have just that one myth dispelled and I'm sure they'll be others (I got that mistaken impression ages ago due to reading about it somewhere or t'other on one of the boaty forums - obviously written by someone who thought they knew but obviously didn't!) I find the restoration of the NWDC fascinating and really do want to get involved. My issue is time and distance, both restrict me more than I am happy with but life is what it is. £50 toll to cruise the whole length? Discovering new overnight moorings, villages, pubs / shops. fishing hotspots etc - Count me and Broad Ambition firmly 'In' It too for me has been a long standing bucket list to cruise 'B.A' up to Antingham. And - If SpeedTriple really is riding his bike around Brands Hatch on his 100th Birthday, then I'll join him on my mighty Tiger - that'll put me at about 80 odd eh? Keep on posting Graham - including photo's - Your a star mate Griff
  9. Seeing as no one has answered you, I'll have a go. Seaward:- When underway with the coast over your shoulder Nelson:- Some sort of complicated wrestling hold Griff
  10. And I’ve heard it a few times too Griff
  11. create one enormous housing estate all the way between Norwich, Wroxham and Brundall? Then of course one day there is the risk of a perfect storm, that is to say a Spring very high tide / storm surge, following an extremely heavy wet month and a strong N.Easterly for a week. Low pressure for a week and we have flooding all over the parish. But the experts will say we had no way of seeing that coming - I just told em! Griff
  12. Chuffin Eck, it looks better on the model that on 'B.A' - Well done Griff
  13. Horning PC provide waste bins for boaters adjacent to the carpark but regularly they are filled by "locals" with everything from garden waste upwards!! You're not wrong there. The amount of 'Stuff' you see in those bins from households has to be seen to be believed Griff
  14. MalcolmH - My advice is to write to them just once stating the obvious, agree to a court date then take no further action no matter what they do with their pressure / dirty tricks I had an issue with a private car park over in Sheffield a couple of years ago now, I was getting lawyers letters and the like threatening to take me to court for non payment of 'Their Fine' Which on principle I was never going to pay.. The Lawyers turned out not to exist - it was a made up name / firm. They were just trying to frighten me into collecting money - Really? waste of time there then. The whole saga dragged on for about two years before they quietly went away with their tails between their legs. It never affected my credit rating or gave me any black marks with regards to finances that I could see. How you have been treated does not surprise me in the least where these type of car park vultures are concerned. I take it you have written to the hotel? what about dropping an email to the Horning parish council? I would bet the Horning local councillors /and business owners would be somewhat concerned to learn visitors are not returning / being put off. Oh and BTW - The power of Media is a real force. (And I'm on your side) Griff
  15. The thing is, knowing Robin as I do, just stepping onboard with a camera and doing a walk through video doesn't really do it. He needs to be onboard for at least a couple of nights using the boat as it was designed for so he can get a real 'feel' of their foibles, good points / bad points and the like. Then he can produce his proper Capt's Blog on any given boat. Hope this helps, Griff
  16. And do it quick before they lugger off somewhere! Sigh, Now what part of the above did not compute? Griff
  17. Anyone got a spare £32,800 they could let me have? I purchased an extra lottery ticket as promised. Both of them performed as per the norm - Nowt - Sorry Griff
  18. Welcome to the NBN Joat. Do you know sommat? - I have never measured 'B.A's internal headroom - Fancy that eh? Must try and remember to do so - Unless I bank my head and forget of course Having said that I reckon you would manage easily onboard 'B.A' and I can get her through PHB - water levels allowing - a few times a year. A sister boat for 'B.A' is currently up for sale R644, 'Goodnight Irene'' a 40ft-er so plenty of boat there with room for guests. Tupperware hull with timber topsides, best of both worlds Griff
  19. James Knight is a district counsellor. South Norfolk Council have appointed him as a full member of the Broads Authority I bet his high and mightiness is spitting feathers Griff
  20. There hasn’t been any attack that I’ve seen, just an opinion Griff
  21. I didn’t even know there was an option to zoom in, let alone have a look in anyone’s property till it was posted in here. Now of course I can make sure I don’t Griff
  22. You really don’t know? Griff
  23. I can well believe it. Proper chuffed to see another price of Broads history restored Griff
