Chinese Restaurants

Found a cracking Chinese when we moored up at Fleet Dyke (opposite South Walsham Broad). We did the walk into the village with the aim of finding a pub, but it was closed for renovation. A neighbour pointed us to this other place, an old pub that was now a kind of pub-cum-chinese takeaway/restaurant. It looked rather shabby on the outside, but we went in to find that it was rather shabby on the inside as well. However, the food was amazing, and the lady who ran the place was lovely, and even gave us weary hikers a lift back to the boat at the end of the evening! I really hope it's still there when we go back in a month's time... :)

There was an immigration control breach at South Walsham for which the owners received a custodial sentence so it might have changed hands, but I suppose the kosher staff could have kept it running while the owners were resting.

That's a shame. :(

Thanks for all the replies people, i`l keep an eye out for them. When in Loddon, it`s always either the Raj for an Indian, or the White Horse for anything else. Then of course, we have to make room for  breakfast at Rosie Leas. It`s no wonder we always feel fat when we cruise away from Loddon lol.

Was this the Kings Arms?? Where down this Friday and was updating our menus, tide tables etc and it's had a few bad reviews in the last 6 months. Last time we used it was all good, always give it a extra nuke to warm it up again.

Yes, that's the place. Ah well, will have to wait and see next month if it's still as good as it was this time last year...

UPDATE: No, it wasn't. :(

Was expecting a warm welcome and a table from the lady that was there last year, instead we were greeted by two guys who barely spoke a word of English, and despite there being a roomful of empty tables, would only offer us takeaway - not much use given that the boat was 45 minutes' walk away!

We left and wandered down to the Ship Inn instead, where the welcome, the food and the service was miles better!
