Here to say hi just purchased this yesterday yet to take her out on the water. Any advice well appreciated as new to this.

I’m currently in the search for a volcano bolt lock if anyone knows of anywhere to get one cheap please.

Hi Lucy,

Your boat was built in my old stomping ground of Chichester Harbour. The vast majority of Dell Quay Dorys were just that, open dorys.

I seem to remember that when they introduced the cuddy like yours they named it The Fisherman.

I wish you many happy hours afloat.

Welcome Lucy - never seen a DQ dory with a lid on. I had an 8' one to get out to a trot mooring on the Deben - very clever "un-tippy" boats, mine was a hoot with an outboard on!

I, running with the tide, and against a half gale and with a slightly too big outboard accelerating hard got everthing just right or wrong and "Donald Campbell" ed one. Very sobering seeing whole boat pass over your head, the 5 gallon fuel tank falling would have done for me if it had got me. Treated it with a lot more respect after.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I Googled "volcano bolt lock" for you and there are all sorts of places selling them from Ebay to Amazon and various chandlers. They are not cheap at around £60-£70 each but very effective in deterring thieves.

Its a good idea to register your engine with Norfolk Police and mark it up with Smart Water or other security products of that ilk too.

Happy cruising! That looks a very roomy little craft for its size especially with the canopy up. Just make sure that if you are cruising with the canopy up you allow a few open studs at the front and possibly the back fully open to blow out any engine fumes. It is better to take on half a pint of rainwater than make yourself ill with the fumes.
