BrundallNavy
Too easy Dave, it’s the wooden boat hospital in deepest Suffolk.
grendel
I would guess from the company, it was somewhere the wrong side of the lock at Oulton Broad, lake lothing?
Lulu
I think it might be where there are lots of seagulls and where I learnt to putty
grendel
I am just looking at google maps to see if I can figure the exact location, from the banks i still say its the salty side. and remembering that Emily B came in through the lock at Oulton. unclemike
I think the boat next to emily b is the same as in this shot of chameleon and therefore IS lake lothing
grendel
Looking on the map I think the location must be approximately where the red circle on the left is, the tall building in the distance the one circled to the right, so looking down the inner harbour. unclemike
wrong side of river
grendel
hmm, it was the only spot where I could get all the features- background buidings, with the mud banks (rather than quay headings) to look right, from the other side of the river there is no similar view from what i can see. JanetAnne
Grendel is spot on, millimetre perfect and needs to get out more...
grendel
I have a certain skill in photo to map interpretation (comes in very useful for the work I do and have always done), Google maps and streetview are very useful tools, once I had identified the tall building in the background, the rest came easily (especially when I remembered Emily B had come in through the lock, it gave me a location to start my search.) I did think that, but i thought Lake Lothing was nowhere near as big as that?. That`s why i thought on the orwell or somewhre, though getting down there in a broads cruiser would be highly unlikely, unless you can garuntee the salty stuff will be like a mill pond for a few days?. I know naff all about engines Peter, but I'm pretty sure that it explains RT's lack of power and lack of steerage going astern. I can't help but think it wouldn't have done a fifty odd year old engine a lot of good?
