floydraser
Bless me Forum for I have embarrassed myself within your catchment area.... Nipped in to Brian Ward's this morning (Saturday) for some Odourlos poo tank treatment. There were no cars outside and I wasn't sure where to park so I went on the Yare car park where I have parked many times before. I met Nick and told him he was recommended by this forum and quite rightly so; I was impressed with the place and will be returning, only I'll park outside the door next time.... While in the area I thought I would nip in to Brooms and see where the service point is (hard to see from the pub) just to familiarise myself for the future. So I drove out of the Yare car park, straight over one of those yellow concrete bollards. No damage to the car and no one around so I would have got away with it but.. the Corsa is front wheel drive and the NSF wheel was clear of the ground! I tried pushing it but to no avail. Somewhere else on the forum there was a discussion about car's spare wheels and lack of them, and my Corsa has no spare and no jack. I did find the towing eye though and screwed it into the socket and sat down to call the AA. At that moment a guy from NYA came along in his 4x4 truck and I waved as he must have thinking, "Look at that..." He stopped and although he had a tow rope, we manged to shove it back off the bollard with brute force and ignorance. Thankfully the bollards are not set in the ground. A public thank you to the guy from NYA, I didn't get his name as I was too busy mentally beating myself up. Am I the first person to do this? Didn't think so. addicted
You're definitely not the first but you were very lucky not to sustain any damage, Large patches of oil often bear testament to those others who have fallen foul of those pesky things. DAVIDH
Happened to me a few years ago. Thankfully, no damage as I didn't go right over. I think it's because they are so low, you forget they are there!

I think anything bigger would probably spoil the appearance of the place but then again if they were hollow with a "mast" above bonnet level, that would help. When I drove artics we had a Bridge Club. Nothing to do with card games and not a membership to be proud of. Thankfully, very exclusive though. ranworthbreeze
We were in the Yare having a drink and a meal, we left the pub and one of our owners managed to get one stuck under the back of his car. Four guys from the pub saw what was happening and just lifted up the back of his car and the problem was resolved. Regards Alan
CambridgeCabby
For a few years numerous car vans and lorries ploughed into the infamous Cambridge bollards , always protesting that the bollard rise under them as opposed to them driving into them whilst they were rising . they have now been replaced by anpr cameras

Regulo
Not quite, but the first day of ownership of my one and only brand new car, I managed to back it into a trolley in Tesco's car park. There was no excuse, it was the first car I'd had with a reversing camera! I just didn't look at it. Small dent, no broken paint, luckily. The bollard just rolled over and lifted the front wheel clear of the ground so no more drive, therefore it didn't get to damage the CV boot or anything. Drove home, no vibrations, 76mpg so nothing out of line.
twowrights
I'd had a brand new car three weeks and backed it into a tree. In fairness the tree was a mature forest tree at least three and a half foot in diameter, so very easy to not see it! It was one of those moments where you don't want to get out and survey the damage, it was as bad as I'd feared!
floydraser
Stand by to cringe: My neighbour at the Gardens on hearing my story related the time his mate allowed him to have a go in his brand new Aston Martin. The front spoiler was lower than the kerb he dried to park against. Ouch. Bad enough in your own car!
SANTED
A few years ago, I dropped my wife off in town to get some shopping while I popped up to see my sister a couple of miles away. She had just had a brand-new BMW delivered to her house straight from the dealers and hadn’t even driven it yet. She said, you take it down town to pick your wife up and see what you think of it Of course, about a mile down the road while stopped at the bottom of a hill at red traffic lights a boy racer in an Escort rear-ended me, wrote his Escort off and lifted the back end of the BMW off the road. Try explaining that
