Oulton Broad YS

Looking just now on the webcam I see that old wooden houseboat is still at the pontoon mooring. I wonder if it will be removed in time for the early May Holiday? Its IMHO opinion a blot on the landscape there, I do appreciate it will be someones pride and joy. It just aint mine to look at !

I was told earlier in the year that it was only there for the winter as it was safer.

Agree it is time it was gone!

Absolutely - having used that pontoon a number of times when on a hire boat it is a shame that it is being hogged like it is.

To be honest the YS does not seem set up for for many visitors at the moment-a number of boats that seem long term are Moored side on and others have tenders moored alongisde.

The shed is not much better from here either

Is this not one that was moored up the more northern end of the broad?

Could be moored there for the winter for safety. Maybe JM has more info.

Yes it is the one that was moored out on the broad further up.

Well I hope its removed before I get there in May lol I require a pontoon mooring and that side is the shortest walk for me. A bit greedy of me I know, but I don't fancy seeing that as my view on the starboard side!

Its certainly been a while, it was there in mid December when we last visited. I didin't think too much of it at the time as I assumed that it was just there for the winter. The Doris was moored at the Yacht station a couple of years ago too.

Apparently it's moorings have come detached and are yet to be fixed.

If it's licenced and paying it's due it doesn't matter if it's an eyesore or not as it has as much right as any other boat to be there, if it isn't licenced and paying it's due then it can feck off...

Just my (not so) diplomatic view on it.

Theres another vessel permanently moored on the other Jetty at the YS that would be of benefit to everyone else if it moored elsewhere to......budding victor meldrew onboard

I agree with the comments of others,paid or not it is perhaps time to go.The ys is in demind through the season,as Marina said we saw it being towed last October.Surely it must be ready to move soon,if not for sure it will be in the way soon.

Been like it for several years now. Not as if the owner is short of a bob or two but I suspect that he is maintaining his 'right' to have a houseboat moored on the Broad, 

 

Re OBYS, I understand that the laconic Adam no longer works there. Shame, long one of the fixtures & fittings, am sure he'll be missed!

I think they go back to the 70s maybe even the 60s when we used to visit the broads moored in the North end of the Broad,if I'm right .but a shame to see them in that state.
