  1. Don't think so - I had a succession of SD1s, the 2.6 was a straight six. The fun part was balancing the pair of SUs. (And replacing knackered electrical gadgets). There used to be a great emporium out by Norwich airport that specialised in tuning V8s that bought in SD1s for the engines and piled the carcasses 'out the back' who were happy to let you scavenge about - I once got an entire electric sunroof for a tenner there!
  2. A good mate had a Ro80 - when the engine went he somehow shoehorned a Corsair V4 into it - oh what fun we had!
  3. Kathy uses a CPAP on board, we run it through the inverter on the domestic bank of 3 x 110 amp batteries. She uses the humidifier but turns it down when its cold. The best thing we found was a home-brewed sleeve over the tube, knocked up from a cheap fleece throw, also bring as much of the hose under bedclothes as possible. She's just advised not to overfill the water reservoir as well.
  4. Nice Teasmade,Griff! If you like that sort of thing,of course.
  5. Roberts playing with his new toy I see - clever bit of kit, that.
  6. Every time this question comes up I remember the video put up some years ago by Royalls of them having to scrape human excrement of the inside of one of their boats after it came back off hire.
  7. I think I saw that film - possibly in Amsterdam!
  8. Droning up and down the A1 the other week, a fair number of Little Chefs seem to have reincarnated as 'Adult Shops' - go figure!

    Peregrines

Just popped onto the cathedral webcam and it looks like there is a pair of peregrines measuring up for curtains. No idea of gender I'm afraid
  10. We usually spend a couple of hours at the Suffolk ones, as Seagypsy says you have to be selective but we've managed to pick up some proper bargains - new rope and cord, fenders, a cracking old ships clock to replace the Nauticalia one and 3 rhond hooks for £1.50! (The seller thought they were something to do with whelk-pots). Just avoid the sail-ties/ canopy bungees - they fall apart when the sun hits them!!

    Over Wide Load

In Suffolk proper (Lowstuff don't count) anywhere North of Diss is ''up there".
  12. Welcome,Perry, to the forum, the Broads and Broadsedge. We've moored there for some years and are well pleased - we're in the basin opposite the pumpout.
  13. I find calling "Starboard!" in a clear carrying, slightly plummy voice quite entertaining.
  14. Back in the day I had a Bond Bug 700, it was even more lethal if you swapped the head for one off an 850 Robin which gave you an SU carb instead of a Solex downdraught and binned the silencer for one off a BSA Rocket 111 you just happened to have lying around. Seen a couple of the 4 wheelers on a Kitten chassis in the flesh at owners club meets. I sold it for a ton and a Tiger Cub - now changing hands for 4k upwards!
  15. "Do you want a tissue?". = " Stop that bl**dy sniffing!"
  16. We discovered that neck of the woods yesterday and Monday, funeral in Scarborough on Monday came back yesterday via the A1249 and A614 - beautiful roads! We both vowed to come back and stay longer next time, all we saw of Scarborough was the crem and a quick drive along the seafront.
  17. Speaking as a Suffolk boy who's just returned from a quick trip to Scarborough, there's a lot of sheep up there - just not many pretty ones. I didn't miss my wellies and bit of baler twine!
  18. Another vote for Fabsil - Gold if you can get it. If you're doing it on the boat hope it doesn't rain until it's gone off.
  19. I used to run a GRP Bond Bug with the twig on the roof. I papered the inside of the roof with earthed Bacofoil - sort of worked.
  20. I had good results on our flag mast with 0000 wire wool and a number of coats of Danish Oil - much easier to apply, wipe on with an old T shirt cutting back between coats until it looks 'right'. Then just a coat every now and then. Less likely to chip than hard varnish.
  21. A fair few years ago the A143, I think between Haddiscoe and St Olaves, there was a couple of mile stretch of actively lit cats eyes. They were bright enough that you could go down to sidelights and still follow the road! * For some reason they didn't last very long. * Not,of course, that I ever indulged in such foolhardiness.
  22. Thanks for sharing Carol - I can just remember bloaters being posted off to relations as souvenirs of trips to Yarmouth from a shop on a corner opposite a pier.
  23. I still have nightmares of the first time I delved behind the dashboard of No Worries. Someone in the past obviously got a good deal on domestic earth cable as the whole thing looked like Carrow Road on a Saturday - a riot of green and yellow! Oh what fun I had tracing everything back!
