  1. How far do you want to travel? What time are you likely to be away from Norwich?
  2. How the media love to pull our strings! An online newspaper headline this morning states ‘millions of over 50s could be told to stay at home under Boris Johnson’s new plans’. (I think Christmas would be a good time oops, sorry folks but I’m not the first.......)
  3. Hello and welcome to the forum. I do hope it will not be too long before your husband gets home and you are able to start your adventures on the Sally Marie. Enjoy!
  4. I mentioned earlier on that Broom’s opening hours are different for turnaround days. Tuesday was supposed to be an 8.15 opening, we got there for 8.15 and were told that it’s a changeover day, not open until 10am! The very kind gentleman did however sort us out before the hire boats returned. You can no longer help yourself to water, the hose is locked away out of opening times. The staff are great and I watched the slick operations re boats returning. Goodchild’s are not operating any diesel or pumpout services, you can still get water. All due to being short staffed apparently. Russell’s at South Walsham have no diesel and haven’t had a delivery since before lockdown. They have a sign up that says ‘No diesel, water and pumpout. As you can still get water, they may well still be doing pumpouts but I can’t say for sure. The sign is a bit misleading.
  5. The quiet corner of Langley Dyke.
  6. Enjoyed your write up and pictures. A quick trip home now, do some washing and repack it ready for Thursday? Get some more rum in too! Look forward to your tales from Water Rail.
  7. No more Moonlight Shadow tales from my favourite Cap’n 😥. I hope you have something in the pipeline which will keep us all happy, which pubs, pictures, adventures etc. Whatever you do, enjoy! Good luck to Neil and Melissa as well in their Moonlight Shadow venture.
  8. Passed Pegasus a couple of hours ago. I noticed that there are 2 roof hatches of a reasonable size which should let a good flow of air in. Having seen it a few times now, it’s just become part of the Broads traffic. There are so many different styles around, some good looking some not quite so. Just depends on your taste. One thing is for sure, there has to be something available for everyone now.
  9. Likewise, I have to log off then on again and that sometimes doesn’t work either.
  10. Board was stating bridge will not be operating between 12pm and 8pm today due to heat.
  11. Some boatyard staff need their heads knocked together then! Don’t they realise their boats will need repair??
  12. Martham staff are well known for their submariner qualities.
  13. I think you may have picked the wrong day to try Pye’s Mill. Saturdays and Sundays see a lot of private boats head there, the same for Loddon staithe I would think. During the week it’s the normal ‘busy’. Enjoying your tale, lots more please. 🙂
  14. Where are you? I’ll pop over. 🚁 😉
  15. Deffo need Brillo Pads then! 😁
  16. Welcome to the forum 750XL. You seem to have ‘done’ the northern broads previously so why not spend your time aboard on the southern side? You won’t have the worry of crossing Breydon at appropriate times and there is much to see and do on the Yare, Waveney and Chet. It will probably be quieter too. I have seen Waveney Pegasus about a few times over the last couple of weeks, it looks an interesting boat and should give you plenty of comfort for October. Have a great time wherever you decide to go.
  17. It was very high this morning. The couple of side-on moorings at Surlingham Ferry looked decidedly low, probably only a few inches from over-topping.
  18. It might be worth deciding where you are going to head for and booking a table. The Waters Edge has a board out stating booked tables only, as did the Locks Inn at Geldeston last week. I am sure it is going to be busy for the next couple of months so booking may well be necessary.
  19. As ECIPA mentioned above, the White Horse has converted their car park into the eating area. However, I don’t know where you park your car although I suppose it could be at the village hall.
  20. The south side seems fairly quiet. There were only 6 boats at Bramerton last night and a further 5 at the Waters Edge.
  21. It would certainly be interesting to know the ins and outs of this incident. I believe I read that a Richardson’s engineer was also present so maybe there was an engine problem too? Or maybe they just got hacked off because they had left it too late in the evening and all the moorings were taken! We’ll probably never know.
  22. Now that is the best suggestion yet, think I might try a gin soak. Alcohol is supposed to kill germs isn’t it??
