  1. I heard something on the radio this morning about people who have had the vaccine, even if only three weeks on from the first, planning on meeting up and breaking the rules. I really hope the next move is not that as a society we become divided between the have and have nots. With younger folk still feeling locked up and the older generation out and about.
  2. That’s good! I was starting to think that the regularly active members of this forum were all over a certain age!

    Day Boats

The locals won’t be happy when the day trippers flood in over Easter! I can imagine the posts now on the local FB groups!

    Day Boats

Not that the toilet was very nice to use on the two boats we had, both from different yards. Shame they don’t seem to get cleaned out every day. Or perhaps they will have to be given all the precautions needed at the moment. I see that Richardson’s are advertising day boats for day trippers from 29th March.

    Cuckoos

I still remember the first time I ever heard a cuckoo. We were moored at North Cove on the Waveney. One of my favourite moorings ever. So peaceful and just one other boat. You can’t recreate those moments.

    Day Boats

I have hired a day boat twice, not the really small low down ones, something in between that and a cruiser. Very different to steer and not easy to moor. Hoping to try again soon!
  7. Still waiting ... they haven’t quite reached my age group yet!
  8. I just might have to read this thread to get recommendations for places to try.
  9. It's ok, I wasn't replying to anyone in particular, just adding it into the discussion.
  10. It makes a difference to your right to a refund as to whether you ask to cancel when you could still legally take your holiday or wait for them to come to you once it’s clear your booking can’t go ahead. We waited for Richardson’s to contact us to cancel the short break we should have had next month. Their opening offer was for us to rebook. Once we declined that they gave us our full refund of course.
  11. It was, but I would readily admit that maybe I’m out of date given that we haven’t booked a week in June for a few years now. We much prefer March and October.
  12. I was certainly surprised by the cost of the boat I was looking at for just a short break in June this year. It was close to what I would have expected for a week. We passed on that and are not now planning to book anything at present.

    Road Works 2021

This one is still ongoing. I saw that the dates had been extended although the signs might not reflect that. It was certainly a very big hole! Sewer construction work or something.
  14. I think those are rather lovely. Maybe I should start collecting first day covers. My dad used to get them for us as children. I’ve still got some somewhere. I wonder whether any of them are collector’s items now.
  15. Glad to hear that you have been able to make these arrangements Helen. Lovely to have things to look forward to. Of course our short break booked for 8th March is now definitely off. We aren’t booking anything else. I’ve delayed my time off work and we now plan to get to the caravan as soon as we can. And then have some days away visiting family later in the year. That will do for me. And who knows, if we get a sunny day maybe we can throw in an occasional day boat.
  16. For anyone worried about the pubs being closed I can announce that MacDonald's inside Roy's has reopened for takeaways ...
  17. That’s a very good point RS2021. I wonder how many larger parties will cancel or might decide one family or couple will keep the booking.
  18. You could add their delivery addresses to your account and do their shopping online for them that way.

    My Day

As soon as the sun comes out onto the back of our house I keep getting ladybirds 🐞 inside my office. I have a phobia of them and need rescuing every time! 😂
  20. Jay I love that. Thank you for sharing it. I’m going to pass it on.
  21. Great to hear they are using the Cliffs. Been there some many times.
  22. I've never worn high heels in my life ... but similar to this, I wonder how much sales of makeup have dropped since we all switched to home working. And the kinds of clothes we wear will have changed as well. I don't have to dress to go into an office so I can be much more relaxed at home.
  23. I thought this was as good a topic as any to flag another channel that I have come across that I really like. I have been in touch with the people behind it and they are happy for me to give it a mention here. Some of the videos are the Broads, some aren't, so take your pick. I believe that they moved from Yorkshire down to Norfolk 18 months ago so are still getting to know the area, the same as I am. Here's one of their videos and that will lead you to their channel if interested.
