  1. Hmmm ... I struggle to understand why the situation you describe in your second story Liz would warrant being on a list to be called in. There are many workers still in front of the public full time. I agree that we don’t want vaccines wasted but that also means a second dose going to that person as well. It does sound like queue jumping to me. Or maybe I’m not fully understanding this one.
  2. I would have to disagree with that. Last time round I was living in a city. My walks were kept to the estate where I lived and people were crossing the road to avoid each other. The guidance says to keep to your village, town or the part of the city where you live. To drive any distance risks breakdown or accident bringing other people into a situation of your making. Unacceptable unless really necessary.
  3. Lovely photos JM. I think I missed that glimpse of the sun.
  4. I hope your brother is soon on the path to recovery Grace. Very worrying times. I agree completely with the sentiments that we all need to comply and get on with it.
  5. So good to find the positive where one can. Like everyone we miss being able to see our family. It feels quite restrictive to know we can only go out for limited reasons including to exercise once a day BUT We make the most of that “once a day”. It’s actually a motivator to go out and walk. And with an app on my phone to count steps and measure distance it encourages me to want to do it whatever the weather.
  6. I am always mindful of that balance between people who aren’t around the Broads wanting to still see what’s going on and not wanting to cause upset to those who can’t be here. On balance the feedback I have had is to keep posting the photos and videos.

    My Day

Positive news I hope for your daughter Liz. And congratulations on your anniversary. 🥂
  8. Belated best wishes Timbo for your birthday, for Christmas and for New Year ... and early happy wishes for Father’s Day, Grandfather’s Day, National Beagle Day, Toby’s birthday and all 2021 festivities! 😂 Does that about cover the year that was and the year to come? Seriously, stay safe and well and thank you for such excellent chairpersonship of the good ship NBN. 👍🥂
  9. Welcome along! Look forward to reading more from you.

    Not Good

You’re right Grace. You just never know someone else’s circumstances. It’s too easy to be judgmental without knowing. We try to keep focused on ourselves and our family. And we’re still using online shopping including weekly deliveries from Sainsbury’s or Morrison’s. We miss that joy of going round the shops, seeing what’s new and finding different things. But it’s for the best for now.

    Not Good

Agree completely. There’s so much focus on the negative without turning it round and reporting the positive.
  12. Water was level with the quay heading behind the King’s Head in Hoveton this afternoon. Well under 6 foot under the bridge when I looked on the BB webcam this morning.
  13. Saw some footage of the Beccles area on BBC’s Look East regional programme this evening. You can probably pick it up off iPlayer no matter where you live. Interesting viewing. Really bad flooding and you have to feel for anyone in their situation.
  14. Looks amazing. Stay safe and well. Hope that sunshine's warmer out there than it is here.

    Confused

I do wish we could stick to how it's relevant to the Broads and boating though. Otherwise this becomes one more place where you could easily fall out with people whose opinion differs to one's own. And I wouldn't want that to happen. There are other places to read and discuss more generally.
  16. That would be me then ... but I’m not going back!
  17. Tier 4 is also called Stay At Home! This from the .gov.uk website and as such we won't be leaving the area where we live for the foreseeable future. I really am going to avoid these kind of topics now and get back to what this forum is supposed to be about. Travelling within a Tier 4 area If you live in a Tier 4 area, you must not leave your home unless you have a reasonable excuse (e.g. for work or education purposes). If you need to travel you should stay local - meaning avoiding travelling outside of your village, town or the part of a city where you live - and look to reduce the number of journeys you make overall.
  18. I would rather look at my glass as 3/4 full not 1/4 empty but agree that those not complying do matter because they are probably only causing the rest of us to be restricted for longer. And I have personal reasons as to why that matters so much. The point I was really trying to make is that in my view there was no point in starting a topic now about news that is more than a week old. It’s only going to rile people.
  19. This is old news and we're past Christmas. We need to focus on what lies ahead not what everyone did a week ago.
  20. I don’t really know what to say to you Timbo. I’ve only ever owned a dog once many years ago for only a short while. But it’s clear how intelligent dogs can be and how much you loved Dylan and amazing all the ways in which he helped you. So all I can do is wish you brighter days ahead as things settle down.
  21. Hubby is quite happy watching some of the many football matches available across the various tv channels. I've been keeping up with the drama of Eastenders where they seem to be heaping misery in even more abundance than usual since coming back to our screens and building up to the Christmas and New Year stories. We enjoyed The Wheel, Michael McIntyre's new show, and also Celebrity Who Wants to Be a Millionaire last night. Other than that we have some regular YouTube vlogs to watch, and also like to pick up a series or two on Netflix. At present we're watching The Fall. And then there's that good old fashioned thing called ... going for a walk!
  22. That was a week ago now. More relevant I think are the reports I have read that 85% of people complied with the Christmas lockdown rules and that 75% think it was right to change the rules. Yes it was the Mail Online but even so, that has to be good news. And the streets around where I live were deserted when I went out yesterday. I was quite surprised just how much fun we were able to have on a Zoom call, opening presents and playing some online games. We were spread across the country in two tier 4 areas and one tier 3, and even joined a friend in from Australia. Not quite the same as all being together but very good fun nonetheless.
  23. That's very interesting. My dad was a philatelist and passed the interest to myself and my sister as children. It's not something I have kept up but I think I might order a set of these or one of their other collectible options. https://shop.royalmail.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=national+parks
  24. The wind seems to have died down a bit and there is some brightness in the sky. These photos were taken yesterday afternoon before darkness fell.
