  1. Hello Bob, Welcome to the NBN forum from Tan & myself. Regards Alan
  2. We have been coming down to the Broads twice per year since 2001, there is nothing better than being on the water. We are looking forward to September. Regards Alan
  3. Hello Jean, Welcome to the NBN forum from Tan & myself. Regards Alan
  4. Grit great for the gelcoat & varnish alike especially when it gets caught in your deck shoes. Maybe that was what all those grit bins were for Regards Alan
  5. Hi Peter, You are quite correct with your thoughts regarding some in the service industries. Some of the marinas are also in same boat, allowing some contractors on site but at a premimum so the poor guy in the boat gets hit with a double wammy. Regards Alan
  6. Hi Grace you forgot to add that you can do all of the above but in high heels Regards Alan
  7. Hi John, At least they have installed some at this location. It makes you wonder however if the powers that be in the B.A. know anything about boats or boating. Maybe they wish to see double or tripple mooring at this location Sadly tradesmen do not query their instructions these days or maybe its anything for an easy life and less trenches to dig. Regards Alan
  8. Well Andy that have given the chances of good weather the kiss of death. I do hope you get a good season and all of the yards on the Broads. Regards Alan
  9. What a load of old tat, other than an couple of items they would be better off selling it off as scrap. If they get rid of it all the site will look better for it. Those lighters have been there for what seems ages now. Regards Alan
  10. Hi Ron, Guy Martin is well worth a watch on any of the programs he has presented, if you have not seen the series it is worth buying the video of "The boat that Guy built". Regards Alan
  11. Hello Mick & Yvonne, Welcome to the NBN forum. I would contact Richardson's and have a word with Clive to see if they still have access to the logo/artwork. Maybe Clive might answer this post. Regards Alan & Tan
  12. Hello Biscuiteer, Thank you for your first day aboard, more reports please. For anyone not knowing details about the boat & Silverline please follow the following link:- http://www.silverlinemarine.co.uk/hirefleet/Sirocco.htm Regards Alan
  13. Hello TheQ, Welcome to the forum and your post regarding the Horning Sailing Club Regatta this year. I do hope that the webcams will be fully functional and that you have a great event. Regards Alan
  14. Hi Charles, It might be an idea of taking vitamin B tablets or eating a lot of Marmite. I started taking vitamin B being has I do not like Marmite and this has kept the majority of the biting flies off of me, prior to that I used to get bitten to death with the midges. I just hope the love/hate of Marmite does not apply to flies Regards Alan
  15. Well done Robin. I guess there are many forum members that are green with envy. Now all your new friends will be coming out of the woodwork plying for visits to BA. Regards Alan
  16. I arrived home last night after having playing snooker at our local community centre to find the family outside looking up at the clouds. It was still clammy, all the doors and windows open, so asked what's too do? They had been watching the skies for a long while and were witnessing lighting in the clouds, no thunder at all, just a light show. Regards Alan
  17. I looked on the webcams for Oulton Broad and Wroxham both showed it was muggy with temperatures of 29C. In Sheffield we had a thunder storm it bounced down with rain but at one stage around 4.00pm the temperature was up to 36C. It is still warm, I see the media have all gone over the top and no doubt the powers that be calling for drought measures to be brought into play. Regards Alan
  18. Hello Guinness, Welcome to the forum from Tan & myself. You should be able to pick up a similar ring pull handle in brass from any good hardware company. If Brian Ward's do stock them then you can take advantage of the forum members 10% discount, if you go into Ward's just mention to Tanya or Nick that you are a NBN forum member. On line you put in a code. (when I have posted this reply I will check out the code and edit this message). Regards Alan The code is "NBN"
  19. Mistakes, errors of judgement and breakdowns do happen, the concequences on Breydon however can result in the pictures we have seen recently. Owners & Hirers do make mistakes, know I have and I have yet to meet many people that can be classified as "Peter Perfect". From what I have seen and reported the Hire Industry do go out of their way the ensure that their clients are given the full facts and I am sure they will have backup documentation of what to do in emergencies in the boats hand over log. Yes there can be bad owners & hirers, however with owners if they damage the boat or others boats in the end they pay for it one way or another. A tidy boat, is usually an indication that it is well run no matter of its age and that its crew does care about the boat. Regards Alan
  20. Hi Mark & Sue, It hardly seems two minutes since you showed us pictures of your wedding up in Scotland. Regards Alan
  21. People always talk about the old bridge, jacking it up, diversions and even blowing it up. They forget however that the other bridge is only about a foot higher at high water, it is almost the same height as Wroxham & Ludham bridges. Regards Alan
  22. As with many sports I can understand anyone wanting to take part/play, but many including tennis I can not be bothered to watch. Each to their own. Regards Alan
  23. Hi Iain, See what happened when the shoe lady stops shoppng in certain parts of the country. They had to close the shop in Kendal and open it as a retail outlet http://www.kvillage.co.uk/k-shoes-heritage-centre Regards Alan
  24. Thank you Pie, I wondered if you had a prefered name. Regards Alan
  25. Hello Ferryman, There is very little of navigation left in its original form since the building of the Mancester Ship Canal. The Barton Swing Aquaduct looks interesting. For some information on the Irwell and the Barton Swing Aquaduct please see the following links:- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mersey_and_Irwell_Navigation http://www.penninewaterways.co.uk/bridgewater/bartonaqueduct.htm Regards Alan
