  1. Perhaps been asked before, but here goes, Is there any reason propellers can't be retro fitted with safety cages.
  2. Mine was at RAF Seleta in Singapore. Same method administered by Royal Marine father when I was 4 years old. Then we had plenty of sun lotion applied.
  3. The Broads are for everyone, from a SUP to a 50' "gin palace". Having been moored on the Yare last week I was bounced around by hire craft, "gin palaces" and a 15' speedbboat, all within the speed limit. The biggest problem is lack of awareness of the wash they are creating going past moored boats. The 52' "gin palace" glided past with little wash, I only knew it was there becauce it blocked the sun out , the speedboat bounced us around. The smaller Brooms create a lot more wash even within the posted speed limit.
  4. Mine and one other member on here, have the same two cabin ones, Barnes had the three with the open plan four poster type, they sold one that is now in Surrey and they have a second one up for sale, very odd layouts. There were 3 of each type built, the barnes ones being converted from caravan carriers and the later three ( blue roofs ) were designed as cabin cruisers from scratch rather than being conversions.
  5. It was moved down to Bristol about 3 years ago to use as residential. The other two from the fleet remain on the Broads.
  6. The Ferry House is great, nice atmosphere and very friendly. You all looked very happy as you passed Brundall Gardens.
  7. Cruise ships are not easy to sterilize hence the high incidence of Norovirus.
  8. We leave on Saturday after two weeks onboard, we have had some great weather. Back again early October. Have a great time.
  9. The level was set at six as Norfolk born and breds can count everyone on one hand.
  10. The new regulations apply to all settings both at home and away. Some exclusions apply with social bubble groups.
  11. Having watched a programme on the production of copper for wires, it is massively destructive to the earth and consumes huge quantities of power. How much copper wire will be needed in EV, batteries and supply cables. Not very green compared to diesel and petrol units.
  12. Not as weird as foot tapping
  13. Another possibility is the virus has mutated to become more infectious but less lethal. This will only be confirmed by the number of hospitalizations. Covid 19 is a new variant of a fairly common virus but we still know very little about it.
  14. You have never met my Mother-in-law, Boom boom
  15. Funny old day, booked in for a 10 minute procedure to remove a growth on my middle finger today. The dermatologist went off sick and was replaced by another chap. He looked at the growth and said, good news and bad news, you need a specialist plastics hand surgeon, it is beyond a dermatologist. The good news is i am a plastics hand surgeon helping out dermatology for the day. 1 1/2 hours of surgery and 20 stitches later the job was done. The finger was sliced up and is now immobilized against my shoulder for 4 days and useless for 3 to 4 weeks. Supposed to be heading to Norfolk tomorrow for two weeks, that has been delayed for a couple of days. If I wave to you on the river, please excuse my extended middle finger
  16. I use Marine power at Brundall Gardens. As to prices, always more than you think.
  17. Ouch, life jacket and a hard hat next you go under a bridge.
  18. If you have the crystals, some plastic and gaffer tape you could form a 'tent' over the wet area and seal the crystals inside, this will speed up the drying process to the localised area.
  19. No it was open as we started off with flow, It was while opening up the engine area i discovered the waste of heat. The impeller was changed in December last year but with lockdown has not been used until just recently.
  20. Any thoughts please. The calorifier is linked to the engine by flow and return pipes. The calorifier has an immersion heater fitted. The engine is never used to heat water as it is plugged in to shore power for most of our stay and the immersion is used. On our last visit we did have a run out for a pump out and the engine overheated very quickly, I suspect the impeller has failed as we had a loss of water out put from the rear. The next day I noticed the engine was quite hot and assume it is transferring from the calorifier. Should I, Leave it as it is as it isn't a problem, apart from wasted heat under the berth. Reconnect the flow and return pipes to the engine to reinstate the loop. Leave the existing set up but fit isolator valves in the flow and return to isolate the calorifier when the engine is not required to heat the water. We will be onboard for at least two weeks a month from now on but still mostly on shore power. Thanks.
