  1. They can't include the lyrics as there will not be a live audience, yeah right. I have a plan, project a recording on a big screen of the clip Peter has provided. Usual BBC, they have become so scared and PC I am suprised they haven't scapped the whole Proms. A sad and pathetic organisation that is a shadow of its original self.
  2. Unless the original price is quoted as inclusive of Vat. If they add the rider , at the current rate, then they must reduce the final cost. If they omit the rider, Vat is just part of the costs the same as other overheads, they are collecting the correct level of Vat and paying it to HMRC. A thousand pound holiday is still the same value to the customer. The drawback of omitting the rider is if the rate of Vat rises the business would have to to make up the difference. As one of my businessess is involved in the construction sector we show all quotations and invoices net, plus Vat as rates can vary from zero to 5⅝ or the full rate.
  3. If the holiday was £1000 pounds and it was considered good value at the time of booking, is it not still good value ? The fact the supplier can claim the Vat reduction to put towards loses incurred since March may well make the difference between being in business next year or going bust. How many people will complain next year if fewer holidays are available and because of reduced capacity, prices rise. I have businessess and I can confirm that many businessess have been very badly affected by Covid, it isn't fun and many won't be around next year, every bit of support to companies is desperately needed.
  4. The reduction doesn't apply to boating holidays.
  5. Its called thread drift, posts tend not to stay exclusive to the original topic if someone has a similar question.
  6. There are lies, damn lies, and then there is Wikipedia.
  7. Lexus everytime, never new though. First Lx400 cost 10,000, 40k milage, kept it for 18 years and sold it for 3,000. RX300, cost 9,000, had 40k milage, sold it 6 years later for 3.5k. Only cost was an LPG conversion. (18mpg in town.) Present one is a LS430. 2006.70k milage. It cost me 6,000 two years ago. All were and are immaculate, no rust and never had anything replaced. Next car will be a Lexus.
  8. PHE probably needs to be split between predicting and planning and logistics for delivery. The logistics could well suit an ex military type on secondment, they did a spectacular job with delivering ppe and testing centres, when finally asked.
  9. Time to research is as important as finance. Every day they are learning more about how it transmits and mutates. It seems the virus in Europe and America is more infectious but less leathal, the next mutation could do what the "Spanish" flu did and become harmless and die out naturally or go the other way. Scientists will unfortunately be at least one step behind the virus.
  10. Are we going to rehash this same argument again nearly four months after the last post.
  11. Just over 2 hours, not bad for a boating forum.
  12. Probably on most others, how long before someone comes up with an answer
  13. Speculation on a post speculating about a speculative thread.
  14. Had the pleasure of the Wooden boat show parading past today, Mona Queen, not sure if she was at the show but beautiful boat. Broad Ambition looking splendid as usual, Nipper, another beauty, shining in the sun. Just waiting for a sight of Water Rail if Peter heads this way.
  15. I did, and I knew you were going to say that
  16. Literally all hands to the pumps. Good job enough people with the right experience. Enjoy the Wooden boat show.
  17. I found them, without too much effort and I am no computer genius. I work on the theory, be nice, life is too short for constant arguments. They may not always seem to be right but the mods make the final decision.

Members who persistently breach forums rules and reach 3 warning points may be banned either temporarily or permanently. Have future postings pre-moderated or their user profile suspended.
