condolences from me too Eric, a sad time for you and the family.

We once flew KLM from London/Stansted to Edinburgh not quite as  long a flight as yours but we were  impressed  by the standard of service. Without doubt the best airline I've ever used is Varig where the level of service is very similar to KJM.

I just flew 15 hours with them on 3 different flights and the food / service was excellent.

They seemed to immediately understand what ''another red wine please'' meant.

Also - 208 pounds cheaper than Qatar.

Anyone remember Societé Anonyme Belge d'Exploitation de la Navigation Aérienne - or otherwise known as simply: SABENA.

It was a Belgian carrier that went bust in 2001, but being known as 'Such A Bloody Experience Never Again' I can't say I was surprised

The local government airline here in Indonesia is ''GARUDA''.

The word on the street is that it stands for ''GO AND RISK UNCERTAIN DEPARTURE AND ARRIVAL''.

I am at home with the girls Grace - school and all that stuff. Mother is 2 islands away (2 hours on a plane) with her father to sort out the funeral, etc.
