Meantime
There's old phones, and then there's very old phones. The iPhone 5S was released September 2013 and are readily available on Fleabay for £30, if that helps you to decide whether to sell it or give it away.
Amarevita
Yes after fees and postage you would probably do well to get £25 on ebay and the like. Somewhere like Cex would probably give you about £18 cash or £25 as a store voucher but it's better than just being thrown into the back of the drawer for a few years

Don't want to keep it as I spare, as we used to do that and they never saw the light of day again It is worth trying local phone repair shops as the buy used phones. SwanR
You could just wipe it, reset it completely and then take it for recycling or leave out with your kerbside collection of small electricals if your council has that set up. Personally I haven’t bothered to do anything other than that. All I’m concerned with is secure disposal that’s also good for the planet.
SteveO
Wow! an 11 year gap in a thread. That's gotta be some kind of record.
Smoggy
Factory reset is the first thing to do whatever happens to it, make sure no private info at all left on.

BroadAmbition
Got the Dad proof protector fitted and facial unlock sorted (wow) a revelation is that. Daughter sorted this out of course. Dare I now use the phone to pay for stuff other than using cards? Griff
Jbx5
Ive been using the Apple Pay app to pay for things a few years now it’s a great idea you won’t regret it. If you want I will show you how to use it next time we are in the pub 😂 John

If you download the Wetherspoons app, or the Greene King app you can place an order for beer and pay using your phone all without moving from the table, then within a short while said beer arrives as if by magic. Very useful in The Kings Head Hoveton beer garden.

Did you get the protector for the camera as well? No seriously there is a glass protector you can get for the camera lens as well.

As long as you don’t put your phone in a pocket with keys or money (and how likely is that for a Yorkshire man? ), it should be fine!! Meantime
I have the Samsung S21 and the camera protector fits on the phone before you put it into the case which means it is held in place by the case. To date no problems.
