Hylander Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 I wonder why the pumps were going like mad at HW. 1 Quote
OldBerkshireBoy Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Very, very high again in Brundall this morning. 1 Quote

Graham47 Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 The barrier has also been raised across the entrance to Herbert Woods boatyard, hence no boats in or out of the yard. 1 Quote
BroadAmbition Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 You've gotta be kidding me really? I thought it was sorta getting back to normal? I'm due to be afloat from this evening, need to get under Ludham bridge tomorrow ideally without taking the top down at 7ft7" Mooring up without having to wear wellies would be good too. Was hoping to get under Wroxham bridge too (Astern!) Griff 2 Quote
Hylander Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 You want to make God smile - make a plan is the saying. I saw a group of guys obviously off fishing on their hire boat but had to take it from outside of HW as has been said the barrier has been raised once more. Quote

Meantime Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 It would appear The Ferry Horning has cancelled the band tonight and had to close again due to the water's returning! 3 Quote
marshman Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Its that pesky NW wind blowing again - the tides at Lowestoft were nearly 1M above predicted levels. Hemsby in trouble again I am afraid! 1 Quote
Meantime Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 It's not looking good for tonight either! Quote

ChrisB Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 I came along The Coast Road, through Walcott around 1640hrs, so about predicted High Water. Driving it was not spray, you were taking proper " Green-uns" . I have not seen that since the sandscaping in 2019. Quote

Hylander Posted November 25, 2023 Author Posted November 25, 2023 There is a sporting expression - see ball hit ball , well see water - float your boat. 2 Quote
Hylander Posted November 25, 2023 Author Posted November 25, 2023 To clarify , that 'boat' is a mould isn't it, it doesn't look like a proper boat. Quote
Hylander Posted November 25, 2023 Author Posted November 25, 2023 So not actually floating then , it did rather look like it. Quote
CeePee1952 Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 It does beg the question, why is it sitting there all by itself? Has it just been delivered from elsewhere? Chris Quote
MY littleboat Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 I've been at Surlingham today - I will post up an interesting photo in a min - the vid was running too slow! Quote
MY littleboat Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 So apologies if the last post didn't make alot of sense - I have been doing some videography at Surlingham today and this 'prestige hire boat' came barreling through, dangerously very fast and pushing a half decker ashore - the person across the river had a few choice words also - not least, at the time, a friend was wading back to their boat - this was not just irresponsible and causes damage, but causing fast moving water enough to sweep someone off their feet. Words absolutely fail me. Quote
ExSurveyor Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 Completely stupid action. No doubt a few minutes later my boat was bouncing against the near overtopping quay heading. Quote
dnks34 Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 Looking at that submerged quay heading on the right its not beyond possibility that the inexperienced could run in to it. Even without the flooding slowing down past moored boats should go without saying. When we moored on the river at the WRC it was very common having boats going by within 20ft and at full throttle, it could be very irritating. Quote
