  1. Lowestoft harbour are very cheap compared with Broads prices, Peter, and would be a good stop-over point (near the RNSYC) for Robin on his way here.
  2. Roll-mop herrings for breakfast in the Dorint Hotel near Schiphol were our particular favourite after a night flying around Europe. Washed down with a few glasses of Deutscher Sekt!
  3. No, Dave, anyone can buy one. Tech Team should be able to help when they get back home from work.
  4. Which era were you born in, Kev? Mods rode SCOOTERS and wore suits......... Rockers rode 'Bikes and wore leather!
  5. David (deebee29) is a valued member of both the forum and the Tech Team and has agreed to join us in the Moderator Room. So it's welcome aboard the Moderator Team, David. We are most pleased and fortunate to have you onboard.!
  6. Brian, hi. I was aware of radiation fog over 50 years ago in the aviation world.
  7. You are quite correct, John, on two accounts: Racism, Sexism, Ageism, Political and Religious Intolerance The NBN's public discussion forum is open-access and is read and used by many thousands of visitors of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds. As such, intolerance of other people's politics, religious beliefs, culture, IQ, gender, physical or sensory impairments or age is unacceptable. Zero Tolerance The NBN has a policy of Zero Tolerance for certain user behaviour. This includes but is not restricted to postings that display intolerance of other people's religious beliefs, culture, IQ, gender, physical or sensory impairments or age.
  8. Wise words from Darkest Yorkshire.
  9. Welcome aboard from us, Dave. Where are you moored?
  10. After 18 years in HMFC I had only lived in married quarters. Even back in the 70's I just couldn't afford a mortgage deposit and then furnish a 4-bedroom house (with a wife and 3 children). I had no option but to retire and commute half my pension in order to buy the house and completely furnish it (where I then lived until 3 years ago). Many others decided to buy when they were first married and then leave their wives and children there. While they were shunted around the Empire at 3-yearly intervals.
  11. I took Mary-Jane for a meal at the weekend to a pub just off the A47, Howard. "Large or small wine?" "What do you call large, please?" "Large is 175ml" "Can you do a 250ml, please" "I can give you two small, 125 ml, in one glass" "That 'll be fine, thank you" I had a pint of Lacons at £3.60 and he then said: "£14.80, please" I did choke on my beer!
  12. I think that Jonzo answered this. Yes, the Spring Gathering is always the third weekend in May. I'm sure that Polly and the Team will put up details soon.
  13. John, hi and welcome aboard one of life's treasures! You'll find that the really nice thing about grandchildren is that they can go back to their parents at the end of the day and I can say that in all honesty because I've got six!
  14. Welcome aboard from us, ManofKent. We'll look forward to your blog soon, I hope!
  15. I last saw it at night a couple of years ago.
  16. The report that Series 8 would be shown in October was reported in the Gt Yarmouth Mercury, Bob. You can google Great Canal Journeys Series 8 and nothing yet comes up. Sorry that I can't be any more help.
  17. A warm welcome aboard from us, JohnK! (And to the ever growing number of Johns on the forum!).
  18. "Gloves are useful for holding the ropes when mooring and in locks (especially when wet)". Really?
  19. I can oblige too on that, John! (In a week's time).
  20. A lovely tale and some really gorgeous pics, Mouldy. We'll all have to up the stakes when you post some of them in the calendar competition!
  21. Griff, hi. That looks like a disaster waiting to happen at Xo'clock in the morning!
  22. Jess, hi and welcome aboard with your first post. It's not so difficult, is it? I'm almost certain that you will if you tell them that you are an NBN member. You need to talk to the management, though.
