  1. Oh to be that confident! Jeff
  2. Hi Wonderwall, At first I thought this an interesting idea, but then I thought "How many people are going to pay £2000 for a holiday on the broads then go somewhere out of the area if they want to buy a paper or a pint?" Jeff
  3. I remember that many years ago just inside Herbert Woods yard on the right there was a gauge which was arched the same as THE bridge. If there was a doubt about bridge clearance you could turn the gauge round over the water and then do a dummy run to see if your boat would pass under it or not. The arch was very well padded if I remember correctly. Never could understand why it was removed even though the bridge pilots had to be used anyway. Jeff
  4. As a follow on to Robin's idea they (BA) could use the blue signs with arrows to show keep left or right. These could be fitted to the channel marker posts on Breydon etc and guide people in the right direction. The red and white "No Entry" sign could also be used at the appropriate points. These are signs that are recognised all over the world so may be helpful and prevent someone saying " I didn't know what it meant as I cannot read English" Jeff
  5. I have read through this topic with interest and have searched everywhere I can think of but am at a loss. Can someone please tell me where I can get hold of a machine with which I can do my banking on line and also get it to give out actual CASH for when I need to use a shop or market stall which does not accept cards etc. There are still quite a lot of them about ! How many car booters do you know who accept cards? Jeff
  6. I think it's a good job we all have a drink problem today. Shudder to think what it would look like if we didn't all have blurred vision. lol Jeff
  7. I was down there last week and from what I saw they could do with a gardener as well. Either that or a combine harvester Jeff
  8. The second photo could be as they were leaving the boatyard heading towards the Bure. I seem to remember a willow tree next to the old house which faced the river just in Daisy Broad. The name Iolanthe comes to mind but I could be wrong. Jeff
  9. Iain, You've managed to confuse me (easily done) The title of this thread states the 2015 photo competition. You then go on to say that the calendar would be available in the autumn of 2016 ! Are they being printed or is each one individually painted ? lol Jeff
  10. Robin, You said that you were invited to buy a 1/5th share in the boat, Does your 1/5th section include the bit where the diesel goes in? lol Jeff
  11. Congratulations Robin. Don't think you should try reversing through bridges just yet though ! lol One Broads ambition achieved, one to go. Jeff
  12. Have to agree with Charlie. Some years ago we were moored at Loddon when a boat came in with half a dozen lads on it. Said to my wife "Watch this, it could be a good laugh to see this lot do a stern-on mooring. The lad at the helm organised the others perfectly, even to the point of telling one of his crew to LOWER the mud weight and not THROW it. He even gave one of them a clip round the ear for carelessly kicking an empty can into the water. Made the lad fish it out before he was allowed another one. They were a quiet, respectful group of lads who caused no problem to anyone whatsoever. Just shows first impressions can be wrong Jeff
  13. Why is it that that some people think that because there is water there it must be deep enough.? I know that these boats are thought of as being "flat bottomed" but don't they realise that a boat sits IN the water and not on top of it ??? Suggest that at the handover they are shown a model boat in a glass tank so they can see just what is under the waterline. Wonder if any boatyard has thought of hiring out hovercraft to prevent this sort of thing? Jeff
  14. Gentlemen, Please do remember that Drew only has a luton built Transit. That means a lot of journeys from Norfolk to North Wales.......Think of the cost of fuel. It would probably make the shoes too expensive for anyone in this country so then there would be shipping costs to add on. LOL Jeff
  15. I was in a shop the other day and noticed next year's diaries on sale Jeff
  16. Why is it that every person in the country, except those who sit on Planning Committees, know how property developers work.? Apply for permission for a small number of houses and once building has started they apply to add a few more and then a few more until they get to the number they really wanted in the first place. Close to where I live there was an application for 300+ houses which got turned down. The application was amended to 36 houses - got that one approved. They are now building in excess of 200 houses......clever Jeff
  17. My wife says can she have one for when she goes to the £1 shop. lol Jeff
  18. Done . Hope to visit again in a couple of weeks. Jeff
  19. Just wondering if anyone else has a problem viewing the Eddiecam. When I try to log in I get a response saying that either The username or password are incorrect. The bit that confuses me is that if I click on "Forgotten Password" I get an email telling me my password and then when I use it I can't get on. Jeff
  20. Hi Speedtriple. Totally agree with you re the weather. I often tell people that when i'm on the broads I couldn't care less if the weather is not brilliant. The fact I am on the broads makes up for everything. Jeff
  21. Iain, the only way you would get Gracie up there was if it was on top of a shoe tree, not the cathedral. Jeff
  22. What's the chances of someone popping up there and strapping a parachute on it's back just in case? Jeff
  23. Just had a look on the webcam.........looks like there is only one "chick" left at home. Jeff
  24. Why has it taken 14 years for the RSPB to decide that the land has "no current or potential value to wildlife"? Isn't it amazing what difference it makes to the potential value ( to the bank account) could be if they can get planning permission granted. Maybe the local council should be made aware of the dear lady's dying wishes and then see how they feel about it. Can't imagine that it would win many votes when people find out if they allow the planning to go through. Jeff
