Hi Ian, I agree that most boatyards do mention if a boat will NOT go through Wroxham, Potter and sometimes Beccles. I cannot ever remember seeing in any brochure that a boat will not go through the two bridges at Thorpe. Jeff

Speedtriple, I agree with what you say. Do you think that the lack of information from the booking agent could be because the person on the other end of the phone has little or no idea what they are taking a booking for. Probably don't know that bridges exist on the broads and that the water level can go up and down. When the agent was based on the broads they at least had staff who knew what the Broads were ! Jeff

It really amazes me that an organisation with the word "ROYAL" in its title can be so two-faced ! " Thank you dear lady for thinking of the birds and donating this land for their benefit. " By the way we will take no notice of part of your dying wish that the land will not be built on.....we can make a nice cash sum out of it. The idea leaves a rather bad smell and I can imagine that a lot of people who donate to the RSPB could have second thoughts in the future.

I can remember the times when driving down the road that if another driver let you out from a side road or let you through a narrow gap before them a wave of "Thanks" was always appreciated. It seems that nowadays a lot of drivers have more rights to be on the road than I do and obviously don't think they should say "thanks" to anyone. How much does it cost to raise a hand to acknowledge the fact that they have allowed you to go first? Jeff

Was the thought of LBBY not hiring out after this season anything to do with the fact of Jason "retiring"? If this was the case then there may have been a rethink since the agreement regarding the "new" owner(s) has been reached. Might be worth making the enquiry. Jeff

My thoughts are that in a lot of cases, particularly with people who are new to boating, they are not aware of the noise that others can hear. The thing that I do find annoying is when someone moors close to other boats and thinks that everyone wants to hear their choice in "music" played at full blast. I always feel pleased I do not live next door to them. They obviously don't realise how much sound travels over water. Most of us have probably been guilty of this at some time in the past but eventually learn to consider others. Jeff

Been watching all 4 chicks today. Poor "dad" seems very busy doing the shopping and bringing back all the food. It looked earlier like "mum" took the rubbish to the bin. (hope she managed to find one.....getting few and far between nowadays lol) Jeff

Clive, Like the way the life ring is tucked away in it's own little area. Is there space in there for the boathook and mop as well? It would prevent them getting kicked about on the deck and possibly doing some damage or getting lost overboard. Jeff

Hi Geoff and Wendy, Really enjoyed your holiday tale, I feel like I was there with you. When you went up to Dilham did you do as I do and travel with the engine on tick-over. I always do so I don't feel so guilty at disturbing the water. It is one area that is definitely too good to rush! Jeff

Hi Geoff, Really enjoying your holiday. Please keep it coming. Regarding Dilham, I have taken San Elena up there before now and managed to turn her around . She measures 44ft and I did it all under power but had to do a lot of changing from forward to reverse as we only moved about 12 inches in either direction. Hope the rest of your time afloat is as good as what you've had already. Jeff
