  1. Looking good Clive. I'll still volunteer to try it out for you when it's finished lol Jeff
  2. Congratulations Clive and ALL the team. Just shows what teamwork and a caring attitude can do. Jeff
  3. It's not very often you find a businessman who will give an honest answer rather than a load of sales waffle. Thanks Clive and well done ! Jeff
  4. It seems to me that "The Broads Awards" should be organised and votes counted by a totally independent "body" which has no connection of any sort with any boatyard or business in the Broads area. There could be a link on forums and Boatyard websites to go to a voting page but that would be the only connection with the Broads in any way The big problem would be finding an organisation willing to do this without any influence from any local business. Jeff
  5. In total agreement with Moosey. We hired from Ferry Marina this year and must say that their boats are very well looked after however old they might be. Is the £100 price difference including Fuel, car parking, damage waiver and diver's insurance at HW the same as at Ferry? The only problem I had with Ferry was deciding whether to turn left or right when we left the yard ( not an option at HW) Whatever you decide just enjoy. Jeff
  6. When I saw the title for this thread I thought Robin was starting a "Spotters Club" in competition with Another well known guy by the name of Eddie Stobart. Got a few thousand members to go yet Robin ! Jeff
  7. Hi Gracie, Your original question asked where would we choose if money were no object. he simple answer is THE BROADS. The problem would be sorting out FOR HOW MANY MONTHS? Holidays for me are for relaxing not for chasing about to get to an airport early enough to hang about for a couple of hours minimum. If lucky you may then be squashed into a packed plane and if you are very very lucky your luggage might have been put on the same plane. In my opinion....NO CONTEST !! Jeff
  8. Thanks for the responses guys. My wife said that she could see the freezer near the door was still full. I have a feeling the contents may be a little out of date by now ! Having said that, I can't imagine that the electric would still be on if the place was up for sale. When we were down last year my wife commented on the shortage of stock on the shelves even though it was open then (October time). Hopefully someone has bought it who would like to see it back to what it used to be years ago.
  9. Just been chatting with SWMBO and she asked if I had found out anything about Bridge Stores at PH being closed when we visited at the end of September. I cannot remember if this had been mentioned before but does anyone know anything?
  10. Old Wussername. It sounds to me that when the time comes you will just be moving from one part of Heaven to another ! lol
  11. Hi Gramps, I've enlarged your original photo as much as I can And I would "guess" that it is Broadheart. The nameplate is definitely one of Hearts and there are the right number of letters on it. Jeff
  12. Hi David (Swift), Thanks for the info re the "quiet moorings" at PH, Just to make things absolutely clear regarding fishing at these moorings. Is it a total ban on fishing there or are you allowed to fish from a boat moored there? Jeff
  13. Hi Iain. Just caught up with you on this one. I'm pleased you enjoyed your time in EAST Yorkshire. If you check your map you will find that Brid, Flamborough and Hornsea are still in East Yorkshire where they have always been (unless someone has sold them off without telling anyone) Hope you accept this in the manner it is meant, ( i.e don't think i'm being nasty about it but I will just say I was born and bred in Hull.....known locally as Ull).
  14. Just out of interest with the mention of quite a lot of new members in recent weeks, has anyone got a record of how many registered members there are on this forum?
  15. Successfully navigated through a regatta, proceed to next pub
  16. No double mooring...go back to nearest empty mooring
  17. Our local radio tells us it is due to be filmed around the Bridlington area which is only about 30 miles from where I live. The high white cliff face at Flamborough Head will obviously be the alternative for Dover. I am led to believe that a lot of locals are quite excited about the idea.
  18. Clive, if you decide to go down the route of a 2 berth on the lines of Broadway do let me know when it is likely to be ready and I'll willingly volunteer to act as a "test pilot" for a few days or even a week. Jeff
  19. Been having a quick glance and my first thought was "Why go to expense of producing a brochure if all it does is tell you to go to a web site for more details and prices?" What happens to those who do not have access to a computer or tinternet?
  20. Had a quick look around Broadway when I was down there last week. Very impressive as with all the new builds. I must admit that my imagination did get the better of me. Tried to visualize what it would be like as a 2 berth with a separate dining area instead of the middle cabin. Rear cabin could be a little larger with an island bed and saloon could have armchairs as in Star Gem or even recliners. Sounds like true luxury to me. Jeff
  21. Hi Roy, I have not hired Dream Gem before but feel that I must point out that she is based at Richardsons at Stalham and not Horizon at Acle. I will say that I can not fault the presentation of all the boats I have hired from both yards. Whichever boat you choose I hope you enjoy it after a long, long wait. Jeff
  22. What a wonderful idea by a company who obviously don't have much idea of what the customer really wants. "First of all we will change the Blakes logo, then we'll change the Hoseasons one." Who is having to pay for replacing all the logos on the boats and throughout the boatyards, those at the holiday parks, those on worker's uniforms, all the paperwork etc. etc.? I would shudder to think of the cost involved at, shall we say Richardsons?.
  23. Sorry Alan but I would need a very very good lens on my camera.....I don't go on board 'till Friday Jeff
