  1. If you look closely you'll be able to see mine on Radiant Emblem
  2. I was told first thing this morning that I only had 6 more sleeps before we would be back on the broads again. I've nodded off 3 times today and apparently I've still got to have another 6 sleeps!!!! Just shows that you can't trust anything you're told Jeff
  3. I think it could be the lovely peaceful mooring at Belaugh
  4. Of all the boats I have been on in the last 50 years my favourite one is always the next one!!
  5. Hi Claire and welcome to the friendly forum. Looking at your I.D I am guessing that you either live or was born in Lincs somewhere. I currently live in North Lincs ( until my 6 numbers come up). Do you live somewhere close to us? Jeff
  6. I received mine today as well and thanks from me for the speedy delivery. David I don't wish to upset you but I will be able to display mine (stickers) on the 26th.
  7. It seems to me that a lot of us should move to Norwich then we could all grow up a bit happier. lol
  8. Hi Clive, Nice to know that you are always looking at ways to improve what you have already got. It would also be very nice to see an update (illustrated) of where you are at with the new builds. I dare not ask if you have any other style plans for the near future ! Jeff
  9. Hi Jimgibney. We hired Bolero last year and did not need any patio furniture. Think about where you will store them safely when not in use, they could finish up being more trouble than they are worth. I would have a word with Clive re the strength of the roof area and the pressure that the chairs would create ( assuming that the foot area would be quite small) By the way Barnes Brinkcraft have done away with the chairs since they altered the roof area seating.
  10. Hi Chris and welcome. If you are anything like most of us on here you will be counting the days. I've got down to counting the hours now ( only 275 to go) lol Jeff
  11. Just shows that with a few people who know what they are doing.........isn't it easy!! lol
  12. I was bitten in 1964. My brother had been the year before with his then fiancé and her sister and hubbie. After his hols he never stopped talking about it and convinced mum and dad that they should try it. I remember that mum was not keen on the idea of being on the water all week. After what seemed like an endless journey we arrived at Summercraft ready for our week on Gala Girl (the old wooden one). The chap at the yard told us our boat was not quite ready and pointed to what looked like a huge pile of bubbles sat on the water. This turned into our boat when it had all been hosed off. By the end of the week I was nattering at mum and dad about doing the same on next years hols.....mum was the first one to see a nice boat go passed and saying "That one looks nice for next year" Been coming down to the broads ever since but I am still waiting for the right six numbers so we don't have to travel in future!!
  13. Thanks for the update Clive. My one comment is that if I had spent in the region of 250K on a boat I would not be keen on the idea of allowing any Tom, Dick or Harry to bring their dog or dogs on board. Apart from the possible mess or damage the next hirer may have an allergy to dogs or even worse may find that they have some "non-paying guests" on board. Sorry, but I'm afraid I don't like the idea of someone taking 2 or 3 dogs into such a confined space. I know that I will upset some people by saying that but we are all entitled to our own views.
  14. For me the gateway to the Broads is any road which leads into Norfolk !
  15. Lovely photo Jill. For those of a similar age to me the name Harry Worth comes to mind.
  16. Hi Waershed and welcome. Hope you find it as informative , fun and entertaining here as I do
  17. Hi Ron and welcome to the forum. All I will say is you don't have to be mad but........

    Hello

Hi Jim G and welcome. The more the merrier.
  19. John, did you feel any guilt disturbing the mirror-like water?
  20. I also think of Alan Johnson Boats whenever I am in Acle. In 1974 or 1975 we had a week on one of their boats called Sheba. This was a Carribbean style 6 berth at that time but I am not sure if it was later replaced with a different boat which now goes under the name San Marino.
  21. Thanks Martin for that info. Just wish someone would remove that annoying music so you can hear the important bit more clearly. My next job is to inform everyone I know. As previously said pity it is not publicised more widely.
  22. My wife's introduction to the broads was on board Pearl Horizon, (Star Gem's sister boat from Acle). Could not believe the amount of space on a 2 berth boat. I particularly liked the fact that you could get to the edge of the saloon without having to clamber over the settee. This was great for having the roof back and being able to fish from INSIDE the boat. The only improvement I can think of is to fit the "new" idea of teak and holly flooring......would finish it off very nicely!
  23. Why is it that in a lot of cases nowadays the idea of parents teaching kids "common sense" has been long forgotten ? Or is it like everything else.........someone else's responsibility!?
  24. Fuel consumption does not worry me this year as we are making use of the "all inclusive" offer at Ferry Boatyard. Having said that I will probably still be as careful as possible in order to "save fuel" Old habits die hard !
