  1. Hi Geoff & Wendy, Sounds like a brilliant idea to me. The one thing you'll have to think of is the possibility of them blowing away in an open cockpit. One way of anchoring them down could be the use of a plate full of bacon banjos !! Jeff
  2. Contacted Philip at Waterside Estate Agents and told him I was prepared to pay the full asking price of £365. He tried to tell me that I had missed off three zeros He did not seem very amused when I replied that as far as I was concerned three zeros stands for NOTHING !!! Jeff
  3. Welcome Revilo. Gracie , I knew you were Incredible but did not realise you were such a Hulk !! lol Jeff
  4. BroadScot, Gracie has obviously had lots of practice. lol Jeff
  5. I think he has enough to keep him occupied just now ! lol Jeff
  6. It has always amazed me that an organisation working on behalf of many others can dictate the prices that those others should charge. Is it more like "we know how much we want to earn in commission so working from that we can tell the boatyard what they need to charge so we get what we want" They even expect THIER commission if the boatyard takes a booking direct. I cannot ever recall a travel agent telling a holiday supplier what price to charge Jeff.
  7. Clive, Do you also have the pin badges for Horizon and Moonfleet? If you do I will have to have one of each !! Jeff
  8. Clive, Don't give them all away I want one !! Jeff
  9. Hi Geoff and Wendy, I agree that in cases like this there should be a prison sentence to deprive the cowardly thugs of their freedom. The biggest problem with this is that THEY get a holiday and WE get to pay for it ! They should be made to pay for their accommodation and food, laundry etc. They get looked after and at the end of their "holiday" they get a cash handout and somewhere to live AND they get help in finding a job ! No wonder there are so many people who want a job but can't find one. (Can of worms opened and tin hat on) Jeff
  10. I remember the days when Hoseasons were proud enough to produce their own necktie and blazer pocket badges. I nagged at my mother to let me have one and wore it proudly. When anyone asked me what it represented I would always try to convert them into trying a Broads holiday for themselves. Every boatyard had their own enamel badge showing their flag. My brother and I tried to collect as many as possible (when we could con mum or dad into parting with the cash to buy them) Whatever happened to boatyards spending some cash on advertising themselves in this way? Jeff
  11. Hi Speedtriple, Totally agree with you. I too would be looking at other boats if I was in the fortunate position to have that sort of spare cash. Check out the total cost of all the "optional" extras. Jeff
  12. Hi BB, I think you are right with that one. The shape certainly looks like the one on the webcam. Jeff
  13. Hi Grace, Nice to hear that you are having some friends round for drinks, nibbles and chat. Can I just suggest you take note of something my dad used to say to me. "Don't chat too much as every time you talk you miss a mouthful". Enjoy you evening. Jeff
  14. I've been looking at the BB webcam and noticed what looks like a new boat ( or shell) all wrapped up . Has anybody got any info on what it is or has my wife organised an early birthday prezzie for me ?
  15. Hi MM, I also used a CB back in the good old days. Biggest problem was too many channels to choose from---could take ages to "find" the person you wanted to chat with. Taxi 2-way radios were ok depending on if you were using single contact or the other system where you could here everyone's conversations which were nothing to do with the job you were doing. ( customers could also hear everything especially when 2 of the staff were arguing) One thing that really annoys me with people who "are doing the right thing" with mobiles ......the ones who pull up anywhere when the phone rings. They don't seem to have a brain to work out if they are in a safe place to stop to take the call. The bit they don't understand is they are still " in charge of the vehicle" !!!! Jeff
  16. Gracie, good for you but you should have grabbed his phone and thrown it out of the window ! I used to drive a taxi for about 20 years and when mobiles became THE way to go I bought a hands free earpiece. The latest one I bought and still use answers my phone automatically for me and shuts off at the end of the conversation so I don't have to touch anything. All this for less than a tenner !! IMHO the law does not go far enough when an "accident" is caused by using a mobile whist driving. Apart from a heavy cash penalty there should be a driving ban of at least 12 months ! Jeff
  17. Always worries me when you get a "big" named chef wanting to get involved with popular pubs/eateries . They seem to have the idea that because their name is connected with it people are going to flock there and create huge profits. As soon as the profits level off or even drop a little they don't want to know any more. I would have thought that someone who feels the need to advertise gravy stock to earn a bob or two should not have got involved in so many businesses in the first place. My question is have any of these four pubs significantly improved since his involvement ? When we are down on the Broads our holiday is not complete without a meals at the Bridge at Acle. My wife looks forward to that as much as being afloat again. Hoping the Bridge will continue in the manner to which she has become accustomed. Jeff
  18. Trust you to think of that one considering your location ! lol
  19. SNOW has finally arrived at the Humber Bridge
  20. I would be very careful when referring to that ice that is very difficult to notice ( ice of a particular colour) Someone somewhere will probably try to have you done for colour discrimination !!!! Jeff
  21. Poppy, The one I like is Haynes: This is a simple task with the engine on the bench. Translation: You've just spent 2 days getting the engine out of the car and after that anything is simple. Jeff
  22. Rincewind, You are quite right about what used to be Kingston upon Hull telephones. Eventually there was a name change to Kingston Communications which is now commonly known as KC, hence the KC Stadium ( Hull City and Hull FC). KC also provide the only internet service available in Hull, goes under the name of Kazoo. Jeff
