  1. Hello stagman welcome to the forum. Regards Alan
  2. Hi Davy, That would imply that politicians used logic, I have never seen it yet in my life. When we are setting the allocations each year we have to check when the school holidays are in the locations that our owners with school shares live, this is not an easy feat by any means especially when when we draw the allocations in November for 2021. Regards Alan
  3. Hello Mark & Tracey, Welcome to the forum and the start of your married life. Tan and I had our honeymoon aboard aboard a narrow boat in 1980, our case had been got at with confetti which went all over the boat when we opened it. We had been boating since 1975 in some form or other. Regards Alan
  4. Hello jwb, Welcome to the forum. Regards Alan
  5. Nothing wrong with lock gates apart from the ones at Mutford Lock Regards Alan
  6. Thank you Helen. It makes me want to be back on the canals, the river sections reminded me of our time of on the River Seven and its gigantic locks. Any hire-boats that the routes include river sections have a anchor and chain as standard at the bow to be used in case of the river in flood. Regards Alan
  7. Down to one chick left in the nesting box this morning, one of the adult birds flew in with pray and starting feeding the chick. It was sat on the edge of the nesting box my guess it will not be long before the last bird has fledged. Regards Alan
  8. Hi Gracie, I have not seen any of the news coverage but I have been told that the opening sequences of Saving Private Ryan are not far off of the mark for the 4000 plus soldiers that died on the beaches. Regards Alan
  9. Hello SwanR, It is often that men who served in the first & second world wars who indeed were in action rarely speak of their time or involvement. Tan's uncle Neil and all his brothers were in the forces and he would never speak of his time over there. Friends have said the same with their loved ones. Regards Alan
  10. During my time in the trades I have come across several Corgi/Gas-safe registered fitters that I would not trust to even make the tea let alone have someones safety in their hands. One fitter working on my business partners home did the new boiler for him, the Gas-board condemned his pipework which had four or five leaks in a very short run. One plumber I know piped up 22 mm pipework on a heating system where he put the pump under the bathroom floor and cut notches over 3 inches deep into the 7 x 2 joists, four of these supported the floor under the bath, the builder and myself shook our heads and went for a cuppa elsewhere. Regards Alan
  11. Thank you Vaughan we all have our own opinions on this event. The initial post was one of information and we post all of the Broads Authorities Notices when received, it was meant to inform crews that there would be people in the water and not to start yet another debate into the right & wrongs of the event. Regards Alan
  12. I have spent all day beefing up security on my sheds after finding both doors had been jemmied open overnight when I went downstairs at 5.40 am this morning, nothing taken but my guess, they will be back.
  13. As per last year I will advise all our syndicate owners to avoid the area during this swim day. IMHO swimmers and boats do not want to be in the same location. Regards Alan
  14. Dear All The Broads Swim 2019 is scheduled to run along the River Waveney on Sunday 23 June 2019 from Waveney River Centre in Burgh St Peter to Beccles Quay. The swim will take place from 9.00am to 4.00pm and will be accompanied by safety RIB’s and kayaks along the entire route. There will be food and rest stops at North Cove, Worlingham and Aldeby Hall. Kind Regards Laura Milner Administrative Officer Operations Broads Authority Tel: 01603 756035 Broads Authority, Yare House, 62-64 Thorpe Road. Norwich NR1 1RY 01603 610734
  15. Hello Helian, Not only did they stop selling petrol last year but the petrol pump has been removed from the fuel station, so just one diesel pump now. Regards Alan
  16. Hello Coryton, Welcome to the forum. As others have said take your time and go with the flow. Being as you are planning to go to the Southern Broads, check on the tides tables for the times of low water going through Yarmouth and add up to an hour for the slack water, this will aid your passage under the two bridges. I usually go onto the Broads Authority website and use there tide table which gives you the height of the low water and it gives you a table of the variation of tides for other locations on the Broads. The Southern Broads will be slightly less busy than the Northern Rivers, to be honest I prefer the Southern Rivers, the rivers are wider, deeper, you may have a better chance of finding a mooring. Please let us know how you get on with your first visit to the Broads, we all had to do this and were all novices at some time. Do not be afraid of asking for help with stern mooring, it is better to hand over a rope to someone to aid you rather than trying to do it all under power. I suggest that you visit the Richardson's website and have a look at their various instruction video's . Regards Alan
  17. Hi Jay, Ranworth Breeze is looking well, Andrew and Paula are aboard this week. Regards Alan
  18. Hi Jay, And there is me thinking you could be tea total Regards Alan
  19. Because it is so close to our marina, we tend to give it a miss. The Yare however gets loads of our custom. Regards Alan
  20. Hello JackOfAllTrades, Welcome to the forum. You will be lucky to get any Broads style cruisers that can pass under most of the bridges (Potter Heigham being an exeption, only very low boats can get under) that do not have very low sections aboard. I can see plenty of research required to account for your 6 foot 3 height, bed length may also be a problem being as some berths can be short in length. Regards Alan
  21. Hi Griff, All that is missing is a caption of "There be dragons". Regards Alan
  22. Mazda & Honda are great cars, I used to love my Xedos 9. Regards Alan
