Solar Eclipse - Fri 20th Mar - Nav Lights?

Today we will be onboard 'B.A' - transiting from Stalham to LBBy, we'll be underway at 0930-ish when there is to be a 90% -ish eclipse - so it will go a lot darker - does this mean that all craft without nav lights have to berth up for five minutes or so?

its about an 80% eclipse, so it will get dusk like.

My best comment heard today, from a work colleague, texted his daughter, watch out for the eclipse between 8.30 and 10 30 - answer, is that this morning or this evening?

If you where into all that Druid stuff as well, having the eclipse on the first day of the spring equinox would carry quite some significance.

It did get a little bit darker in Warwick, I popped over to the other side of the building to watch it.  As this involves walking past the canteen it would have been rude not to stop for a bacon sarnie - So I did !!

Didn't see it. Too much cloud. Virgins were pretty scarce here in Essex too.

0935 about 80% maximum over Tamworth, just north of Birmingham. No cloud clear sky. Sky went slightly darkish temp drop of about 3 degrees. All over by 10 am.

Looks like you were in the wrong place at the right time. Never mind it wasn't the end of the world.

 

Iain in Scotland would have had the best view, providing there was no cloud cover.

Yes there was an eclipse, it went nearlly dark. Nope too much cloud cover here on the west coast. I did see the 1999 one though. Temp dropped like a stone. Next one is 2026?

Norwich ....... the sun didn't come out this morning  . gloom ..... gloomier ...... back to gloom.

Yesterday here, it was wall to wall blue skies....typical! At least the folks up on the Isle of Lewis had a good clear look at it.

Cloudy here in the North East this morning but the cloud cleared slightly and I got the briefest glimpse at about 2 thirds of the way then thick cloud covered it again.

This afternoon we have clear sky & sunshine..... Typical

Calamitous in Childerditch, the light levels dropped, the fork lift driver put his headlights on, and apart from clouds - that's all we saw.

Dearest London was in thick mist this morning, so no luck in seeing the Eclipse, but guess what  ? Around 10:15 mist lifted and after that a lovely sunning day  .

I also saw the Eclipse in 1999 and that was a good one  .

Marina referred to London as being 'dearest'. It might be in parts but I found that a pint of Adnams was no dearer in a pub opposite the Houses of Parliament was than it was on The Broads. Got to be fair to London!
