  1. And so say all of us. No boat trips this christmas I'm afraid. SueH
  2. That all sounds magic. Someone could make a fortune if they designed something like this! sueH
  3. We have been on board autumn/winter on a number of occasions since we bought into Moonlight Shadow, It can be magical, so quiet and peaceful. We've even done Christmas once, with Christmas/New year allocated for 2016. Our first trip for 2016 is straight after winter maintenance so, hopefully, she should be in excellent order. As discussed, cleaning can be an interesting topic. We have the same contract as Thunder and it does save us time and stress on turnround day. Like Thunder a ticklist has been agreed between the syndicate and the cleaners. Like Matt, we too could not clean her in an hour, our problem being Rosie's hairs, for which we pay a £10 premium (individually not as part of the syndicate budget). SueH
  4. It looks like we are coming off our March trip on MS on Easter Saturday. With a bit of luck we won't get bothered by too much traffic on the way back! S
  5. I know the feeling, we manage to have two of everything - so each time the caravan goes in for a service (the dealer insists on it being emptied first), the garage is full of boxes and various other must haves. I have also started to something similar with MS - so eventually we could possibly have three of everything. Heaven help if we ever have to sell our share. SueH
  6. Absolutely! Difficult to ground what is already grounded! sueH
  7. Oh well. We are going back South of the M4 that weekend. Maybe another time. SueH
  8. Hows about 9/10/11/12 September - the middle of our autumn fortnight up there? As to location, somewhere that is quiet and where Rosie can have safe wombles. So long as the tides and weather are ok then N or S is fine, but we cannot sensibly get through Wroxham and would not even attempt Potter! It is our 35th on 14 Sept so we will be looking at finding somewhere nice to visit/eat that evening. SueH
  9. Hi - I am also a strictly addict having religiously watched it since the beginning. In fact it is strictly every day of the week now (if you include It Takes Two!). I know I need to get a life, but it is a bit of glamour that I can never aspire to unfortunately. You can't turn a sows ear into a swan! It's funny how peoples preferences etc are different - I cannot seem to warm to Jay and can see what the youngsters see in Peter, but as Grace says he is not a patch on Captain Jack. Did you hear the mention of Captain Jack as a quick aside of last nights Dr Who? What do you think of Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor. At the risk of being contentious, I could never warm to Matt Smith either. Perhaps I am just becoming a grumpy old woman in my middle age ................ Anyway looking forward to tonights Strictly results show. Always vote on line so am able to vote for three favourites each time. SueH
  10. Pembroke Corgi Models! I've got a Beswick one and an unusual one made from coal. Am now on the lookout for one made of glass. SueH
  11. We used this last time we were on MS, just for a 'round the houses' trip. Very friendly and informative crew. Well worth the trip me-thinks. SueH

    Tidy ropes

I usually coil the ropes on the stern flat in a circle, a bit like a large plate. A bit fiddly but appeals to my 'neatness'. The bow ones 'dangle' from carriers mounted on the bow rail. SueH
  13. Roy - I'm so envious. I've also sen her three times this year - but cost a fortune! Not so lucky as you to be so close. SueH
  14. The other thing about a Tuesday start, that was very useful when we were a partner in Ranworth Breeze, is that you do not have to travel on a Bank Holiday Monday. We left early on our last MS trip (on Thursday) and, although there were more lorries around, the journey seemed to take less time than travelling on our normal Saturday. SueH
  15. We bought a 12v TV a few years ago for the caravan. It was very expensive and far less reliable than the cheap 240v one we were using at home at the time. To cut a long story short, it annoyed me once too often and got binned when we bought another caravan where 12v TV's were not needed. Unless they have improved over the years, as Robin says, expect some expense and not necessarily the reliability. sueH
  16. I thought it was just me! I always have a sharp knife, my own micro-wave ware and a set of scales in the bag for each trip. The microwave ware is an excellent light weight set, made in New Zealand but bought in a little shop in Beccles! Obviously weight is not a problem in MS, but we originally bought a set for the caravan liked them so much so bought some more next time we were moored at the yacht station in Beccles. SueH

    Phones!

I changed to 3 recently and also get good coverage, SueH
  18. I must admit we have an old sat nav which we take on board that does the business! I've only just got a phone that I can download apps onto anyway. SueH
  19. I've never managed to get into this one - have given up! SueH
  20. Very high here at Beccles. Water over the level of the path on the right hand side of the yacht station. We are on the river and it is up to the top of the quayside, not quite over it yet. Staying until Friday morning, then down to WRC. SueH
  21. It's Strictly Time! HWMO is going to spend an awful lot of time in the workshop for the next few months. I am addicted, not only Saturday, but Sunday if it is the results show and then every week day on 'it takes two'. I think I need to get a life! It's all the glamour and posh dresses, all the things I can never aspire to. Mind you, I only know three of the 'celebrities' who are taking part - can anyone beat that? SueH
  22. Does anyone ever think of what would happen if an aircraft crashed on a busy motorway adjacent to a major airport such as the M4 and Heathrow. Or indeed fairly recently when the BA flight crashed short of the runway at Heathrow if that had come down even 1 mile earlier. Exactly. People appear to be far more sanguine, perhaps, about the sort of thing that could happen at Heathrow, which could cause far more carnage. SueH
  23. I agree with Speedtriple, we don't know what happened and if the pilot dies it is unlikely that we ever will. If he does survive, then, as 'ST' says he will no doubt be haunted by this tragedy for the rest of his life, and he also deserves our sympathies. SueH
