There is a well known pub on the north rivers, where I moored stern on one morning, only to find that my boat had been moved two spaces up the quay, for no apparent reason, while I was having lunch.

The quay attendant was apparently a well known "character" who had become a bit of a law unto himself, so I didn't say anything about it.

On the other hand, the pub lost my business as I have never moored there again.

Did you have your mudweight down?

It's plain rude to board a boat whether it be private or hire to move it from it's mooring for whatever reason other than the boat causing a hazard. I remember years ago moored at Horning someone started untying our ropes, my Dad went out to ask what the hell they were doing to be told they wanted to moor there and was moving our boat up, they were politely told to have sex and travel. Had they had the decency to knock and ask my Dad would gladly have moved up for them

Sorry for the hijack of your thread CC but for someone mad enough to not like chips, what do you expect :default_biggrin: x

Nothing wrong with salad and chips :default_rofl:

Replace the chips with a tiny bit of chicken and you've got her diet every single bloody day

On t'other thread you were moaning about her cooking, how does she burn salad?

Oh I'd never really moan about her cooking, it's delicious and I love it :default_ph34r:but she's a very talented lady my friend, just not in practical areas. Why not ask her about patio doors for instance :default_smiley-angelic002:

Katie arrived at Ranworth at 08:45 having made a detour to Ludham butchers for tonight’s anticipated barbecue.

Cerise Lady with water tank replenished we set sail at 11:00 destination Horning to pick up a 4.5kg gas from Boulters , I’m glad I rang on Thursday to reserve one as it was their last one , arrived at Boulters for 11:30ish and moored at the entrance to the yard , blocking Broad Ambition in who were visiting also said a hello to the crew and Purdey exchanged cylinders (4.5kg was £20.50) and off we went .

Cockshoot dyke full, Fleet dyke also full, on we motored , left onto the Thurne , we will try Womack Water , dyke full as was the staithe and the island , we slowly motored up the dyke towards the Thurne again , a small boat had left the dyke moorings and the lovely owners of a Sheerline 950 offers to pull their boat down to make just enough room for us .

After making a complete pigs ear of the mooring in the cross winds , with assistance from the Sheerlines crew we were moored , bliss !!!!! I love Womack Dyke moorings .

We soon settled in chairs and table set up on the grass , quick bite for lunch with a few gins.

18:30 barbecue lit , lamb kebabs and pork belly sizzling away soon cooked (burnt) to perfection and washed down with a bottle of Chilean Médoc .

A pleasant stroll along the path we are now back aboard , soon be time for bed .

Strolled down into the village this morning for supplies and also stopped at the cottage bakery for bread and cakes , quick shower aboard ans we headed off , destination Acle moorings hopefully on the leccy and in anticipation of a crab sandwich .

Rivers very busy with private and hire , windy yet sunny .

Arrived at Acle and yippee space on the leccy moorings and a busy Dunes cafe.

Safely moored , spring set time for my sandwich .

Top marks for the crab sandwich , Kate had a crayfish sandwich and that was a thumbs up from her too.

Now sitting riverside enjoying a glass of wine and watching the antics afloat .

Just had to politely remind a 45ft hire boat that is wasn’t a good idea to moor across a safety ladder , they fully understood and moved on , there is however a private boat moored directly across another one just further up , what chance do hirers have when that sort of example is given , do they really need a pint that badly!!!

Just recently we saw a topliner moored in Fleet Dyke right across a safety ladder (they didn’t actually need to, there was oodles of room!). They had wound one of their ropes right through and round the top of the steps, using the whole of the rope and almost finishing with a granny knot. I wish I had had the nerve to take a photo!

Had a lovely meal on the Acle Bridge , and a chat with Griff and crew who were moored up outside the inn a few pints of Ghostship and an early night .

Left this morning at 09:30 after watching the shenanigans outside Bridgecraft , gentle cruise to where we are now moored up , South Walsham and there’s currently only two boats moored up on “the bend” moorings , kettle on snack in the oven , mmmmmm, we are settled in .

Left South Walsham at 0845 this morning , destination Boulters for fuel and a pump out , £89 for the two not bad for 10days cruising , then on to Ranworth , the taxi rank has now been acquired .

Met the crew of Fair Duke and when they departed Maurice Minor soon took their mooring

Up early this morning as Katie was leaving at 06:30 for home , waved her off and started preparing the boat for my sons arrival at 10:00.

Everything prepared then tragedy, I slipped going down the internal steps and after suffering acute pain looked down and my ankle wasn’t pointing as it should , called 999

ambulance arrive after 45mins , I’m now in James Paget awaiting X-ray result , foolish me !!!

Well, ankle broken , conflab ongoing whether to operate or not .

A massive thank you to Maurice Minor , Steve at the shop and to the crew of the Broom commander whom is an acquaintance of some years  who is returning Cerise Lady to the wet shed.

And lastly to all the East Anglian Ambulance crew , and the staff at James Paget
