Back home today at 12:30 , after a wonderful weekend , weather was stunning .

we returned to Gays for our Sunday evening mooring , was very busy but we managed to secure the end on spot facing the river , three nights which included two barbecues , heaven

Spent Friday evening at Sutton Staithe as we didn’t want to cook as our journey was 2.5 hours due to the A11 road works , walked into the Sutton Staithe hotel at 19:15 to be told they had stopped taking orders as they were too busy on food orders , too busy consisted of 7 tables eating a total of 23 diners on a Friday evening !!!!!

we ate onboard , shame as the ales and company in the pub were excellent .

Left Sutton at early doors , as we reached Barton broad we espied Lulu ahead looking resplendent as always , currently moored on Womack staithe enjoying a tipple or two before barbecued giant prawns for dinner .

Left a very warm sunny Womack at 08:30 destination , yup, Ranworth passed Daisy Chain near St Benêts Bramble will be upset that she won’t see her boyfriend Oscar , as we were approaching a busy staithe I saw the awning of a fly bridge vacating the taxi rank , result !!!

now moored up for the day Katie cooking avocado , poached egg and streaky bacon for breakfast , dinner tonight will be rib eye steak (from Ludham butchers) barbecued , meadow flat mushrooms and a green salad .

Possible washed down by a nice Merlot

Oscar sends Bramble his love. We did it the opposite way round this week we were at Ranworth last night (didn't get on the taxi rank  thou) and at Womack tonight. Certainly been glorious weather.

Up early doors to put Pipedreams away , I’m working tomorrow afternoon sadly :(

Leaving Cambridge at 06:00 for two weeks afloat , Acle is our destination Monday and we will travel south Tuesday morning , booked into Oulton Yacht station for an overnight stay .

Hope to see plenty of fellow members on our voyages .

I had planned on going to the boat on Tuesday on the bike but not in the temperature forecast, now planning on Thursday, hope to see you in Beccles if you're down there near the weekend. won't be going anywhere as doing some painting.

Left home at 06:45 , a traffic free journey to the wet shed , one hour and a half to reach Wroxham .

Loaded Pipedreams of supplies etc and usual checks completed we left the wet shed at 10:30 , quick visit to Sutton staithe for a pump out and refuel we set off.

Quiet rivers , peaceful Ant , sun bearing down 35C , Bramble placed in the shade in the rear cabin , roof back and breeze (what little there was) helping to keep her cool.

now it’s 14:00 and a slight deviation , we are moored up for the evening on Upton staithe , decided it would at least provide some shade .

Weather cooled down a tad , decided to leave Upton at 19:00 to try our luck at Acle and get some cooler air through the boat , arrived at Acle at 19:45 only available space , after a quick reccie was on the farm moorings ,£10, and wandered to the Bridge Inn , due to the heat kitchen shut at 19:00 and they called last orders at 20:15 for drinks , okay it’s a Monday evening BUT there were 50+ customers enjoying the facilities !!!

returned to Pipedreams , pâté for dinner turning in now after a few Hobgoblins

One of the hottest days in years and they close the pub early, that is crazy!

It may be staff issues the hospitality industry is struggling to recruit

I would imagine the temperature in the kitchens was through the roof, a very hot day coupled with the heat of the cookingi can envisage it easily in the mid 40's, and the landlord will have a responsibility towards his staffs welfare.

Fully understand , and agree re the kitchen closing due to the heat I am however confused as to why the bar had to close so early when there were obviously so many customers still using the facility.
