  1. Always dreamed of doing this job but I’ve heard it’s quite hard to get. Plus the salary is a tad low!

    My Day

Sorry to hear this Griff, been through the same only a few weeks ago with one of our cats.
  3. The upstairs helm on the lowliner is also uncomfortable and blocks access to the side decks. The stying was quite striking when it was launched but it’s not very practical or easy to live with.
  4. Yes, pictures please. Except of sircumsicion, we don’t need to see that one!! 🤣

    My Day

Enjoying a drink in The Dancing Man brewery in Southampton. Only a couple though as I have to be on the boat show stand at 6am for the crane to lift the engines onto the stand. It’s the start of a long 2 weeks !
  6. 3 x AD41’s at 200hp each, not sure why they did it to be honest as it wasn’t particularly fast.
  7. That’s a Sealine, they didn’t make many.
  8. Oil analysis can help with a diagnosis although it’s better used as part of routine maintenance. The sample needs to be taken once the oil is up to working temperature, this would mean running the engine under load and could take up to 30mins. If your engine is that poorly it may not last long enough to heat up! There are members all over the UK so if we knew where the boat was based someone may be able to recommend a mechanic.
  9. The Alpha 31 and AF32 are different hulls, the 31 could plane with enough HP and had a bolt on keel for inland use but the 32 is full displacement. Jay was either Lady Pauline or Lady Carina when I worked at Kris Cruisers, they were originally built mid 80’s for Eurocruisers in Staines. Both were sold to Bill Maxted in Loddon.

    Kill Cord

We have them available for petrol and D3, D4 & D6 diesel engines. You could fit an energised to run electric stop solenoid to most diesel engines and rig a kill switch to cut the power and stop the engine.
  11. The Aquafibre 32 has quite a tall hull and is very boxy, think it would struggle at Potter. Unless they have been modified the screens were a pain to lower single handed as they are very large. Not many about either, 3 or 4 maybe?
  12. This one, several fireman injured but surprisingly no fatalities.
  13. Various projects are being worked on now, the cost will be very high for a few years though and charging infrastructure will be an issue.
  14. There was quite an epic build thread on an Irish boating forum to go with the video below but it seems to have disappeared. The video does link to a few more though.
  15. There’s an interesting article on Extinction Rebellion on the BBC - seems they are quite well organised and some do have jobs as they took time off work to protest. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/article/66227e29-405e-44c1-bd6c-5ac33308cca0 I think they have a valid point but I don’t agree with all their tactics. They should have distanced themselves from Emma Thomson flying thousands of miles on a pollution spewing jet to attend a protest ! The biggest issue with climate change, pollution etc is overpopulation of the planet. No one is going to do much about that and as I have 3 children I’ve not exactly helped the situation!
  16. That's a sad sight, the BMC2.5 was as sweet as a nut as well. I can remember painting that hull, seemed to go on for ever !
  17. Bill purchased 4 of these boats from Kris Cruisers when I worked there, 2 x AF32 aft cockpits, 1 x Alpha 31 aft cockpit and the AF42. The AF42 was originally from NBYC and was a really nice handling boat - if only I had some spare cash !
  18. Nope, please see my earlier post. I just try and keep my plastic use to an absolute minumum.
  19. Biodegradable plastic bags are just as bad, if not worse than normal plastic bags. There are plenty of articles about it but here’s one - https://eradicateplastic.com/what-are-the-problems-with-biodegradable-plastic/
  20. They do look quite poor on the inside though.
  21. If you are in a suitable area like the middle of knowhere stick and flick is the best method, I would'nt do it in a park or popular dog walking area so use plastic bags. Sadly plastic is casuing far more problems than dog poop, the so called bio degradable bags are even worse as most just degrade to smaller pieces of plastic ! Most of the smelly poo in our area comes from foxes, sadly our dog has a liking for rolling in it !!
  22. FIAT - Fix It Again Tomorrow FORD - Fix Or Repair Daily LOTUS - Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious
  23. I was 9 years old when that photo was taken, I can remember sitting on that white ramp a few times !
  24. This is the view from the rear, I thought the sign was mildly amusing !
  25. I reckon £40K is a tad expensive, there's an old Herbert Woods woody next to it as well !
