  1. Welcome to the forum and to Broadsedge - we're there too.
  2. I can only echo what MM and Ricardo have said. I effectively single hand our Bounty 27 as Kathy has osteoarthritis and once ensconced on the stern seat stays there. As MM said the canopy can be done single handed but I've never been bold enough to try it under way we usually drift about on Wroxham or Daisy broads before shooting Wroxham bridge. I have a caravan step in the cockpit to speed the leaping out bit as we only have one good leg between us - managed OK for the last few years.
  3. Of course, back in the day there was the Barton Angler of blessed memory just over the road from Gays.
  4. Good to hear you're having a well balanced diet MM. Respect that man!
  5. We didn't get many banana boats in Felixstowe but U. S. Lines and Medite box boats often carried pax - usually rich Americans of a certain age. It was great fun piling them into the works car for a trip to town so they could experience the English pub experience. They also loved having a Customs stamp in their passports rather than boring old Immigration.
  6. Kathy uses a Resmed IP21 (previous machine was a Respironics something or other). Away from shore power it works a treat on a Sterling 1800w pure sine wave inverter. When we had the inverter fitted HW put an extra domestic battery in giving us 3x 110amps. We usually only run on battery for one night at a time with a good run during the day. Had no problems yet, except when we learned you can't just add one new battery to a bank! Hope this helps.
  7. Good luck with your Endeavours, Grendel!
  8. Hi and welcome Karl - Boulter's isn't the easiest fuel pump for a newbie to get alongside.I'd suggest Southgates next door to the New Inn at Horning as it's truly Riverside. Re. Price - we filled up at Sutton Staithe last week (another b*gg*r to get on) at £1 a litre.
  9. Ahhh! Sunday lunch at the grandparents with the Home Service in the background "Wakey Wakeeeey!"

    Wroxham Bridge

TheQ - on No Worries (Bounty 27 AC) the horn is about level and a foot away from the port ear of anyone sitting on the bog I'll leave the rest to your imagination lol!
  11. Some years ago I sat with Gus watching a guy on the New Inn moorings set up a full on beachcasting rig - 12' rod, huge multiplier reel, 3 boom paternoster and a 4oz breakaway lead. Apparently the nice man in the tackle shop up North said it's what he needed in Norfolk. Ho hum.
  12. They look very similar to the ones on No Worries - lamp is probably 12v 5w festoon. We thought of going LED when we swapped all the cabin lights out but heard it was difficult to get the right colour/temperature as as the engine would be running when they're on didn't bother in the end.
  13. Kathy used to work for Willhire, one night their compound was turned over and 30-odd cars were de-catted! Plod reckoned battery angle grinders were used and there was no chance of a prosecution as they were a quarter of a mile from the local travellers site - so asking for it!
  14. Re. False detections, when we first got our Fireangel we powered it up and laid it beside the gas fire at home just in case. Sure enough it sounded within half an hour! Trouble was the fire (and back boiler pilot) was off, however Poppy dog was snoozing by fire and her farts could clear a room in seconds! So they also work on methane too!
  15. Somehow MM I can't quite see Wildfuzz with the five skin jazz Woodbine that that speech requires lol
  16. JM - back in my 'round the cans' days a mate had a girlfriend with a very impressive top hamper - not the sharpest knife in the box but very useful on the trapeze!
  17. Hi and welcome jocave. Handy hint: Kathy also has limited mobility (osteoarthritis) and we've found a caravan step an absolute Godsend, both for getting around on board and on and off the bank. Just don't get one of the folding ones - too flimsy for serious use!
  18. I was told it referred to the triangular shape of the island looking like an old style flat-iron heated on a stove top. The island at the Sutton/Stalham split has been referred to as the Heater too.
  19. Just after the Billy Cotton Band show I believe DeeBee "Wakey Wakeeeey!"
  20. That's just what we have on No Worries - hasn't let us down yet! I did think about electricating it but after measuring a mates S1 Landie motor I reckon it'd add nearly 3" to the minimum air draught - sometimes 3" can make all the difference!
  21. A good mate, sadly now deceased, was crew on the Rix coasters going up to Colman's. His post from Haven Bridge onwards was on the bow with a loudhailer 'suggesting' where smaller craft should go on the way up and back. He always reckoned after a trip to Norwich the ship was 5 knots faster as they'd polished her bottom!
  22. Our "lads week" was always the last week of October or first in November - it's a great time for the Broads, no problems finding a mooring and most places are still open. It can get a touch chilly at night but hot water bottles and microfibre cloths for the condensation soon sort it. We've had T shirt days and woolly hat and gloves days!
  23. Griff - They got them very wrong a few years ago didn't they?
