It's not just you. I love pointing out boats we've had before - particularly Contessa from Richardson's (my first and favourite). I get for too excited seeing her! Sadly, I think all of the boats from my childhood are off fleet so are very hard to spot. Craig's database has been great for tracking down the ones in private ownership (that I can remember!).
webntweb
The Broads boats we have hired. There's a few gaps when we were doing canals and other waterways: My first ever Broads mooring at St Benet's on Vestella 4 from Landamores in August 58. Crusader 1 from Richardsons at Reedham, July 63 Constellation 2 at Chumley & Hawke's, Horning. Waiting to embark, July 64 Constellation 2 at Princess Cruisers, Loddon, September 66 Porter & Haylett's Connoisseur super eight at home base, Wroxham, September 81 Broom's Admiral 7 at South Walsham broad, August 82 Sunset 6 from Beaver Fleet, St Olaves at Salhouse broad August 83 Porter & Haylett's Sunline 2 at Salhouse, October 83. This boat was unusual for it's time for having a split sliding canopy. Clear Horizon 2 from Horizon Craft, Ace at Mixer Marine, Stalham, October 84 Shetland from Alan Johnson, Acle, August 85. Not sure where this is - possibly Ludham Bridge? Richardson's Little Gem 4 at Pleasure Boat, Hickling, May 86. Meadow Saffron from Colin Facey, Horning at Norwich YS, August 86 Star Monarch 1 from Jack Powles, Wroxham (by then Pennant Holidays), waiting for the Potter Heigham bridge pilot in August 87 Rhinestone 2 from Southgates Lower Street, Horning (Pennant) at Oulton YS, October 89 Swan Raider 2 from Swancraft, Brundall (still independent but marketed through Pennant - if I remember correctly) at Oulton Dyke, October 90 White Champagne from Alan Johnson, Acle at the Acle Bridge Inn, Oct 93. Boat was ex-Eastick's and Alan Johnson's yard was now owned and run by the Foley family Autumn Willow from Willow Cruisers, Brundall at Rockland Staithe, Oct 93 Saucy Gem 4 from Richardson's at Barton Turf, Oct 94 Yare Sunset 1 from Brister Craft, Wroxham at Surlingham Ferry House, Oct 94 Swan Roamer 1 from Swancraft, Brundall at Loddon, Sept 95 Sarah Louise of Scenic Broads Keyholder Scheme at Neatishead, July 2007 - we only stayed on her overnight and didn't join the scheme but it was the impetus for us to buy in to shared ownership at a later date. Moonlight Shadow at Geldeston, July 2010. We had a share in Moonlight from 2009 - 2011 Lightning at Rockland Staithe, March 2015. We had a share in Lightning from 2010 to 2018 when we had to sell for reasons of bad health After all these years we couldn't keep away, so whilst on a caravan holiday in June this year we had a full day on Bittern from Whispering Reeds, Hickling Will have to find a way to have more time on the Broads especially as I have finally found somebody who can steer a straight line - my seven year old granddaughter Jessica.

ChrisB
That Sarah Louise looks interesting! Don't think I have ever seen one like that before, A friend at the Rugby Club when we lived in Bucks had a forward drive cruiser, not that big but it had a nice flybridge arrangement. It lived at Harleyford after her had sold her. I think it might have been a Sheerline.
webntweb
Sarah Louise was owned originally by Kingfisher cruisers at Thorpe after which she went to Line Azzura at Marina Keys, Gt Yarmouth. From there she went to Scenic Broads at Wayford Bridge. After that I don't know what happened to her but Craig mentions Boatline and DRL Marine. I think there were originally two built with slightly different layouts. Sarah Louise had the engine under the rear steering position between two double bedrooms. You had to be pretty supple to get into the rear bedrooms, which as you can see from the pic showing the windows at the rear, were low down and quite compact.

Davydine
I have a few that have been scanned from my dad's slides, hope you don't mind? The last one is a very young me, probably about 1978. A prize if anyone can name the “boat” I am at the helm of! David

The cap badge looks like P&O and that also looks like a voice pipe at the helm position. So maybe the Canberra or perhaps the Oriana.
catcouk
With all the switches and lights behind, it could be the Battlestar Galactica. Think that would be tight getting through Potter...

Fabulous post, Roy, thanks for taking the time to put all the photos and captions together. White Champagne and Pink Champagne have been at Richardsons so long I'd forgotten where they originated from but you've just reminded me. I remember the Mixer Marine name but where exactly at Stalham were they located?
NeilB
Mixer Marine were based in a dyke of what is now Broads Edge, the one where the Ant splits off to Richardson's. My parents hired a boat from there sometime in the early eighties. 2
webntweb
Mixer's fleet was made up of mainly (if not all) bathtubs. Some went to Woods and possibly Richardson's when Mixer finished hiring. Funny how memory plays tricks. I thought I remembered them as Bounty 37s but Craig lists them as Horizon 35s.
NeilB
We had one of the Bounty 37's called Tahiti, pretty sure they had some Horizon 35's as well.
