  1. Sounds like a self - description Grendel
  2. She looked stunning last week , someone is going to be a very lucky new owner . Hope to see you both again soon
  3. Looks wonderful , but I would be very suprised if it reached anything like the asking price
  4. The former Tropic Horizon II , a wonderful boat and classic Broads design, may you have many enjoyable years afloat on her .
  5. Congratulations on your new boat purchase , seems excellent value
  6. Cerise Lady will not pass Potter or Wroxham , Wayford or Beccles , so to many she is unsuitable for the Broads , to Katie and I she is suitable for us . A youngster on their paddle board or in their kayak for an afternoon afloat finds these in their budget and enjoyable , many say they are unsuitable for The Broads, their users and owners think differently A 50ft “Gin Palace” is a wonderful platform to sit up high and enjoy the vista , with extremely comfortable accommodation aboard , restricted as to some waterways but able to access many others away from the river network if the owners so wish . As long as your craft is suitable for you and you use it on the Broads then it is suitable for The Broads as you the user and owner sees fit and long may you all enjoy your chosen vessel
  7. In either case , it is down to the interpreted appearance of being “under the influence” made by the relative authorities representative The abridged version i quoted from is as it appears in the Norfolk Constabulary guide , as opposed to the full quotation from the BA bylaws.
  8. Most of the bigger hire boats are capable of about 8mph , day boats probably similar , I was on the river by the Thurne mouth doing about 6mph and was passed , albeit slowly , by a Herbert Woods day boat and the river was almost at slack.
  9. Apologies for miss information , I passed by on Friday whilst afloat and saw they were open , and in use and was of the belief that elec was in place (as is listed on BA information)
  10. It is illegal to navigate a vessel on The Broads whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs , the police can arrest and prosecute if you are found to be so .
  11. Yes , and has electric points
  12. We too use an oil filled radiator , if you don’t have shore power fitted , you can have a lead made up to convert the shore power lead to a three pin , or double three pin socket and plug one in that way
  13. Congratulations to you and your family from Katie and I
  14. My thoughts and condolences to the family and friends of the young man who sadly passed away yesterday. May I respectively suggest that any further speculation as to the hows and whys be saved for another time and allow those that knew the fatality to grieve in peace .
  15. Great to see you’re enjoying your new boat . The open sea is far more challenging than Breydon is even on a rough day . Please make sure you have means of communication , pref fm (with relavent licence) life savers and a life raft or dingy , and enjoy . hope you didn’t mind my saying this
  16. Currently in The Maltsters , Ranworth checking the beers ok
  17. And as per Norman Stanley Fletcher , did a hole to put the spoils in to dispose of it .
  18. Snook up last night for a few days , Katie is loving the peace at home whilst I’m afloat !! Not much space left for me at Sutton Staithe last night !! Neatishead only three other boats when I arrived this morning , full now (15:00hrs)
  19. The rule of six specifies that if the family bubble is greater than six in the same household then that is ok . if two families of four started their holiday afloat prior to the deadline on Monday then they have formed an existing bubble of eight within the same household , ie the hire boat , as they were living together prior to the change in legislation .
  20. The new ruling is gatherings of 6 or less dependant on family bubble , if bubble is greater then that is also permitted . The new legislation has been forced upon the incumbent party by many individuals ignoring the measures and guidelines (as it would have been irrespective of who was at the helm during this Covid-19 crisis) . In many cases those seen in the media speaking out against the “rule of six” are the same individuals whose reckless behaviour has escalated the Covid-19 figures (plus of course the simple fact that more people are being tested) . As I have been harking along since early days if people simply wash their hands frequently , use sanitiser when soap or water is not available , respect the two meter distancing where possible and wear face coverings then we can beat this terrible virus ; ignore these very simple rules and we will continue to live in its shadow . as a footnote , well done to Gareth Southgate who acted promptly and IMHO correctly in sending the two players who broke the Covid-19 rules in place . And once again thank you to the NHS , support workers , and all those working hard to hold this dreadful virus at bay.
  21. Katie and I always drive home via Hastings when we pop to Brighton for the weekend , a pint and a game of bar billiards in the Jenny Lind followed by a pint of smoked prawns on the beach ........ heaven
  22. The video that shows the effect of wrong timing and “turning left in error” well is this one IMO https://youtu.be/qpOTDtjaO7s
