  1. Your pump out taking quite a while might be down to an old pump out suction pump rather than the volume in the tank. Modern pumps empty a holding tank very quickly these days, but they cost lots of money to purchase and install. (Assuming a yard can actually find one these days!)
  2. I hope it is as simple as Meantime suggests. I cannot help thinking that it might take a few Test Cases to decide what the new rules mean,........... or do or not mean.
  3. Reply to Psychicsurveyor. We had better blame the BBC and other parts of the UK media, of course it could actually be factual.
  4. I bought chicken thighs in our Tesco recently and was surprised looking at the packs that it was all EU origin, not British. Now we know HMG is to provide 5500 visas for poultry workers, the penny dropped! I think the BBC and other media have got this just about right, in the UK we really do need to stop burying our heads in the sand, the reality is out there for all to see.
  5. I suppose we have to look at the balance of probability, fall in the water and there is a greater likelyhood of survival wearing a LJ. It can never be be 100%.
  6. What was the outcome? If it was impossible to see, was it acceptable to the ranger or does it need to be relocated?
  7. I would like to think most of the season! Where else would a newly promoted team have Liverpool, Manchester City, and Leicester City as the first three opening games of the season. The only conclusion I can draw is that the FA do not want the likes of Norwich City in the Premier League, there is something wrong that leaves nasty smell.
  8. CELLO also do a solar powered model in 2 screen sizes, I think. We have a 22 inch one, solar panel sits on the roof and charges the internal battery during daylight hours and saves using the boats domestic batteries. It can also be charged whilst under way by the domestic batteries or, if you can get hooked up, from the mains. Very pleased with ours so far.
  9. MM my wife and I saw a Bittern a few days ago just up stream from Barton Broad flying over the trees, probably the same one, we know they are about in the area.
  10. I passed recently on the Stalham Dyke and thought that it was simply a boat moored there. Isn't it just a typical example of how our country has gone down the pan over the last ten years or so? Nobody takes any responsibility any more. The employes of the BA do a good job but there is a terrible lack of leadership at the top, and this from an organisation that aspires to be a National Park......no chance! I was out on the rivers over the last weekend and some of the behaviour witnessed was dreadful, and it was not young people in the main. It is just typical, dump your rubbish here, dump your unwanted boat where you like, sorry for the rant but it is so sad seeing the Broads allowed to deteriorate.
  11. Hi 750XL, if you look at where others are mud weighting you will not go far wrong.
  12. Towels should not be washed using fabric conditioner as it affects their absorbency.
  13. Cannot agree with the above post, always use it and it does the job it is meant to do. Premium brands are rarely worth the money.
  14. We found the Ant very quiet yesterday. Plenty of wild morings available and passed Irstead twice and room to moor both times. Basins at Richos seem fairly empty, can't explain it.
  15. I am not a great believer of burying ones head in the sand! The Road Haulage Association estimate a shortage of 60000 to 100000 HGV drivers in the UK. I wonder why? Look a bit wider than the pandemic! I did the A14 from J1 to the A11 on Monday, the primary route to the southern east coast ports. Quite a lot of trucks on the move, but nothing like it was a few months ago.
  16. What is the tube inside the lid in the picture?
  17. That tends to be the nature of the journey back to your home mooring lol.
  18. From Stalham there are a number of options! Sutton, Dilham, Neatishead, Gayes, Irstead, Barton Broad, How Hill, Wayford and numerous wild moorings including Johnny Crowes all within an hour, plus a choice of good pubs too. We have been based in Stalham for 14 years and would probably only change to go south.
  19. Posted June 26 One of the Star Supremes has popped up on Ebay, not sure what system she is on but appears not to be the Broads. I suspect she is N°2, latterly called "Gotcha" on the Database.(windows and green antifoul are the clues). I recall seeing her at Waterside, Potter a few years ago. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jack-Powles-star-supreme-circa-1966-/265208635310?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 If this boat was called Gotcha, I think she was sold at Waterside Potter around first half of 2017. I took a look at her myself but decided not to buy a woody. Seem to remember seeing pictures somewhere of her being loaded onto a transporter when the sale went through.
  20. I believe people and governments are in for a shock when they realise that environmental damage caused producing batteries, electricity, wind turbines, nuclear power stations etc. and then decommissioning, then replacing it all over time, is going to far exceed the environmental damage from modern, well maintained engines that last for years. Simply put, there is no way currently known to the human race of producing energy without pollution of somekind. I certainly do not know what the answer is, and nor do any of the so called experts, in my opinion. Lots of people are going to make a lot of money on the way though!
  21. I would have thought that every ministers office should be under CCTV for the security of the nation. As for using a private email address for government business, that really is a matter of concern if true.
  22. Of course good service should be applauded, I can probably guess who, but perhaps not in case of TOS. The trouble with the TOS is that if contributors do not praise yards, the assumption could be they provide average or poor service. Exactly what should be avoided.
  23. I have heard a rumour, so this cannot be taken as gospel, that the occupants have a 'syndicate'' of owners. They keep changing the name of the registered owner of the boat to stay one step ahead of the authorities. As fast as paperwork is prepared to enable action to be taken, ownership changes and it is back to square one. New law regarding tresspass making this a criminal offence rather than a civil offence might prevent this, but could also have implications for wild mooring all over the Broads.
